The Cure’s Robert Smith has been confirmed as this years Meltdown Festival curator, for it’s 25th anniversary event to be held at London’s Southbank Centre. Each Meltdown festival is ‘curated’ by a different artist, with David Bowie, MIA, Nick Cave, Patti Smith, and Jarvis Cocker taking on the roll in previous years.

Smith released the following statement:

“I am honoured and excited to be curating the 25th Meltdown Festival. More than 30 of my all time favourite artists – some of the most exciting, inspirational, intense and influential performers of the last 40 years – will make sure this 10-night extravaganza at London’s Southbank Centre is the must-see event of the summer!”

This years event takes place from Friday 15th June, with tickets on sale from 15th March, shortly after the first artists are announced. The promotional video below has been released on social media channels.
