The Download football tournament is a well-loved favourite of many Downloaders, with 2017’s close-run tournament leading to joint winners, Flaming Ed and Llana in Pyjamas. Last year, the proceeds also went to a cancer charity, Cancer Research UK.

This year’s Download Festival takes place over the weekend of 8-10th June, with the football tournament taking place on the preceding Thursday for those camping at the Donington Park site. The Download Festival campsite opens as early as noon on Wednesday, with many choosing the queue from before the crack of dawn.

Download 2018 will be headlined by Avenged Sevenfold, Guns N’ Roses, and Marilyn Manson.

Download Festival Eco-Camp set for 2018 debut

Download have also confirmed the launch of a brand new campsite for 2018 in recent weeks, to be hosted by Greenpeace. The Download Festival Eco-Camp will be set amongst ancient oak trees and is available to all weekend camping ticket holders at no cost, provided they register in advance online.

The environmentally friendly campsite will require campers to abide by four eco-commitments, and will play host to morning yoga, nature walks, and talks on environmental issues.
