Festival toilets are disgusting, most of the time. But most people do not know you can get a pack of flushable paper toilet seat covers that make the whole experience much more bearable.
They usually cost a couple of quid for a pack of around 20. They are made of biodegradable paper, so just like regular toilet paper, you can flush them down whatever type of toilet you are using when you are done.
You are more likely to have seen them abroad or heard them mentioned on American TV, as they are just not that popular in the UK. That means they are not normally something you see when you are out shopping. We haven’t managed to find any in the major supermarkets, though occasionally they pop up in the seasonal camping aisle.
Thankfully, plenty of high street discount stores do stock them, and they are widely available online. Here is where you can find them.
Buying on the High Street
If you need them today, your best bet is Poundland or Home Bargains. Check their camping sections — usually near the cheap tent pegs and travel bottles — and you should find small packs tucked away on a shelf. They usually cost between £1 and £1.50 for a pack of 10 or 20.
A lot of outdoor shops like GoOutdoors and Millets also stock them at the till point, usually branded by Summit or Coghlan’s, but expect to pay closer to £2 or £3 for a pack.
Buying Online
Amazon is the easiest place to stock up, especially if you have Prime and have left your packing to the last minute. If you buy in bulk or group together with your mates, the price per pack drops significantly.
Here are the best options currently available online.
Best for a single trip: Milestone Camping Toilet Seat Covers
If you just need enough for one festival, this is a standard 15-pack. They are biodegradable, fully flushable, and come in a pocket-sized cardboard wallet that easily slips into a bum bag or pocket without getting crushed.

Best value multipack: GoHygiene Disposable Seat Covers
If you are buying for a group, or you go to multiple festivals over the summer, this multipack is the best value you will find. You get 50 covers split across five individual pocket-sized travel packs (10 per pack), making it incredibly easy to hand them out to your friends at the campsite.

The XL Option: LooREADY Extra Large Seat Covers
Standard paper covers can sometimes slip around on the plastic seats of portable toilets. These LooREADY covers are significantly larger than standard ones, draping over the sides of the seat so you do not accidentally touch the plastic beneath. They also have tiny sticky tabs to keep them in place while you sit down. They are more expensive, but worth it for the peace of mind.
