A decent sleeping bag can be the difference between a cosy night’s sleep and freezing your way through ’til sunrise. You can get a nice, warm, high-quality sleeping bag for the exact same price as a rubbish one, as long as you know what to look for.
First things first, make sure you’ve got a decent roll mat. You lose loads of heat through the ground, so whatever sleeping bag you’ve got, a roll mat will make a massive difference to your temperature. It’ll also be a lot comfier.
We’ve examined some of the most popular sleeping bags available both online and on the high street for the 2026 festival season. The best deals are found online, but if you need a sleeping bag in a hurry, we’ve also looked at some of the best high street options.

High quality sleeping bag
Vango Nitestar Alpha Mummy Sleeping Bag
If you’ve got the money to spend, Vango is one of the most reliable names in UK camping. Spending a little more than the cheapest options gets you a really high-quality sleeping bag full of extra features that should easily last you for multiple summers filled with festivals and camping trips.
The Nitestar Alpha is an excellent mummy bag. A “mummy” shape means it tapers at the feet and has a drawstring hood to pull tight around your head, stopping all your body heat from escaping out the top. The 150 version is a great lightweight 2-season bag, meaning it’s designed specifically for summer camping and won’t be too heavy to lug from the car park to the campsite.
It features an anti-catch zip (so you don’t snag the fabric at 3am in the dark), a breathable internal lining, and an internal pocket for keeping your phone or wallet secure while you sleep. It also comes with a compression stuff sack to pack it down as small as possible in your rucksack.
- Premium summer festival sleeping bag
- Drawstring mummy hood to trap body heat
- Lightweight design is easy to carry across a festival site
- Includes compression sack and internal security pocket

Best budget sleeping bag
Milestone Unisex Outdoor Mummy Sleeping Bag

If you don’t fancy spending so much on a sleeping bag, this one from Milestone will still outperform most bargain supermarket bags at a very similar cost.
Like the Vango above, it’s also a ‘mummy’ type sleeping bag with a padded hood area, and it also features a 150gsm hollow fibre filling. While it matches the Vango on filling weight to act as a solid 2-season summer bag, the fabrics and zippers are much more basic, which is exactly why it costs a fraction of the price.
It should still be enough to keep you cosy through a standard British summer festival, though we wouldn’t recommend it for late-season camping in October or November. That 150g filling keeps the weight and pack size down when you’re trekking from the car park, and it comes with its own standard carrying bag.
- Excellent budget pick for summer festivals
- Lightweight 150gsm hollow fibre filling
- Mummy style with a drawstring hood
- Includes a standard carrying bag

Sleeping bags available on the high street
Vango Lunar 250 Mummy Sleeping Bag (Argos)
If you’d prefer not to buy online, or perhaps you need a sleeping bag today and can’t wait for delivery, Argos is usually your best bet.
The Vango Lunar 250 is an excellent mid-range mummy sleeping bag that is widely stocked in Argos stores. It is very similar to the Nitestar recommended above but often slightly cheaper on the high street. It has a 250gsm filling, a soft brushed-polyester lining, and hanging loops at the bottom so you can air it out over your tent if it gets damp.
It’s fully machine washable too, which is perfect for when you bring it back from Leeds Fest more mud than fabric. You can check local stock on the Argos website, reserve online for immediate collection, or order for home delivery.
Home Bargains and B&M
If you are on an absolute shoestring budget, checking your local B&M Bargains or Home Bargains is worth doing. They regularly stock unbranded, basic “envelope” (rectangular) sleeping bags for around £10-£15.
To be fair, they aren’t half bad. They usually have a standard 200g filling and come with a carrying case. They won’t have the heat-trapping hoods of the mummy bags, and the zips might be a bit flimsy, but they will do the job. You can’t easily check stock online for B&M though, so it’s a bit of a gamble whether your local store has them in when you need one.
Double sleeping bags

Trail 2-Season Double Sleeping Bag
If you are sharing a tent with a partner, this double-size sleeping bag from Trail is our top budget recommendation for summer festivals.
It comes with a snug 250gsm hollowfibre filling, so with two bodies in there generating heat, you should have no problem keeping warm on standard festival nights. It’s an “envelope” style bag, which means it doesn’t taper at the bottom, giving you both plenty of foot room.
The Trail double bag actually has a brilliant unique feature: it can be fully unzipped and separated into two completely independent single sleeping bags. So if you’ve had an argument, or someone is snoring, or you just decide it’s too hot to share, you can instantly split it in half.
It also features two internal storage pouches to keep your phones and valuables safe while you sleep, and comes with a compression carrying sack to keep it compact on the walk from the car.
- The best double sleeping bag for couples
- Can be fully unzipped to create two single sleeping bags
- Features internal storage pockets for your valuables
- Generous 200cm x 150cm size

Argos: Vango Lunar Double Envelope Sleeping Bag
If you need a double bag instantly, Argos stocks the massive Vango Lunar Double.
It is a fantastic option from one of the UK’s most trusted camping brands. It features a 250gsm hollow fibre filling, which is plenty to keep two people warm and toasty, and a brushed-polyester lining for extra comfort. It’s an “envelope” style, meaning it is rectangular rather than tapered, giving you both plenty of foot room so you aren’t fighting for space in the night.
Most importantly, as it’s available from Argos, you can check stock in local stores online and make a reservation for free. If you need a reliable double sleeping bag urgently for a festival today or tomorrow, this is easily your best high-street option.
