Meadows edits batch 2 8

Meadows Marathon 2021 will be going ahead as a virtual event over the weekend of 20-21 March. It will include 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Full Marathon distances.

In light of new regulations, Meadows Marathon committee announced that the event will be going ahead as a virtual race. Runners will have 48-hours to complete their races. And have been told this is the perfect opportunity to raise money for charity without risking the health and safety of other participants.

Since its inception, the event has raised over £210,000 for charity. This year Meadows Marathon will donate the money raised to Saheliya, When You Wish Upon A Star and The Rainforest Trust UK.

Meadows Marathon has also introduced an option to plant a tree instead of sending the participants an official Meadows Marathon t-shirt in partnership with Trees Not Tees.

Participants can register through the Race Nation platform and will gain access to the new and exclusive ‘runners’ only’ section within the Meadows Marathon website.

The Meadows Marathon team are offering fundraising incentives for the people who raise the most money through their Race Nation page. They will be awarded an extra £150 (1st), £100 (2nd) or £50 (3rd) to a charity of their choice.

Meadows Marathon Coordinator Ana Blinstrubaite said: “Covid-19 has brought on challenges we never expected, but the team are working very hard to adapt to the current situation.

“The safety of the participants is our top priority and doing the event virtually means runners can choose their own route without having to travel into the city.

“This also means that people can take part from anywhere in the world.”
