Interview with the team behind Liverpool’s One in the Woods Festival

The One in the Woods crowd

Liverpool’s community-minded and meticulously crafted One In The Woods is back with another mouthwatering mix of house, techno and drum & bass heavyweights in Orrell Hill Woods from July 28 – 30. This year sees the festival evolve from the two-day event of previous years into a bespoke three-day camping festival offering its largest ever lineup with DJ Marky, LTJ Bukem, Goldie, A.M.C and many more.

Here we speak to Owen and promoter David Potter about the 2023 edition.
Tickets are still available from the official Skiddle page.

Who is the team behind this event and what’s the thinking behind it?

The One Promotions Ltd is a group of friends with a common love for dance music.

How did you choose the location and how hard was it to get a festival set up there?

The location came by chance after covid struck and put an end to our proposed club nights, I went on a mission to find some outdoor space and stumbled on the woodland. The rest as they say is history. The site already had a license which made things easier but there was still lots to do.

Is it important to use local talents to set up and produce the festival as well as top DJs?

We like to use local acts bring them into the fold and make a family vibe around our events, so in that way yes it is.

Tell us about the new arena for this year – what will it offer?

We have brought in a new genre to the festival this year so we needed to create a space to accommodate it without losing anything that has already been put out in past events. We have changed a lot this year with stages and spaces which we are truly excited about.

What will the production be like at the festival? What’s the vibe?

Well, each year we have tried to improve on the production levels and this year is certainly no exception. Expect alien technology mixed with forest charm

What are the key things to get right at a festival in 2023 from your point of view?

Value for money as people have less at the moment it’s important to acknowledge that. Good Quality sound, experience welcoming vibes, and enough toilets,

What are you most excited about for this year’s festival?

See the family grow and welcome people into our new site
