As the temperature starts to become colder and the daylight hours get shorter, we wouldn’t blame you for looking to book your next musical adventure. Fortunately, there are plenty of festivals taking place in Europe next year.
Whether you’re after attractions, sights, beaches, music, or a combination of all four, you won’t be disappointed. In this guide, we take a look at five European festivals planned for 2024 that’ll hopefully get you through until the summer.
Tomorrowland, Boom
Celebrating its 20th anniversary next year, Tomorrowland is set to take place in the stunning location of De Schoree in Boom, Belgium. An electronic music lover’s paradise, pretty much every A-list DJ across the globe has performed here.
What really makes the event so special is the phenomenal staging and festival grounds. So much so that it has won various awards and accolades, including being voted five times consecutively as ‘best musical event of the year’.
The festival will be spread across two weekends from July 19-21 and July 26-28. With around 400,000 attendees from more than 200 countries, it is the largest festival in Europe. Pre-registration opens on December 6th so be sure to sign up as tickets can sell out quickly.
Sziget Festival, Budapest
The seven-day marathon that is Sziget Festival is one of the highlights of the year in Budapest, Hungary. While mostly a music festival, the event offers visitors so much more, including beach sports, art installations, and circus acts.
Located on Óbuda Island, a small woodland island at the heart of the Danube River, the festival is expected to take place from 7-12 August 2024. Usually, you can choose between camping at the festival or staying in a local hostel as part of a package trip.
While we don’t know much about the lineup so far, we can surely expect some big industry names since the headliners this year included the likes of David Guetta, Imagine Dragons, and Billie Eilish.
Mysteryland, Haarlemmermeer
Since its inception, Mysteryland has been pioneering the electric music scene. In fact, it is the longest-running dance festival in the world, having inspired many other festivals since it began in 1993. Every year, The Netherlands invites around 130,000 partygoers to come to the event, offering a staggering 300 artists on 17 incredible stages.
The on-site camping grounds are large enough to host more than 17,500 attendees, with exclusive access to afterparties and various food and entertainment facilities. 2023 was a real treat for festivalgoers, with a lineup consisting of Alesso, Timmy Trumpet, and Hardwell. This means 2024 should be just as exciting, if not more.
So, make sure you free up your weekend of August 30th to September 1st 2024 if you can picture yourself dancing under the Dutch skies.
Low Festival, Benidorm
A city famous for its nightlife and music scene, Benidorm is one of Spain’s most beloved party destinations. The annual Low Festival started in Benidorm back in 2008 and has become one of the most popular celebrations in the city.
With a recorded 300 days of sunshine, you’re almost guaranteed to enjoy the open-air music while sprucing up your tan. There’s even a VIP area with an Olympic-sized swimming pool should you wish to take a dip.
The festival values sustainability and also looks to appeal to all types of individuals with its ‘low cost’ initiative. The line-up tends to includes some well-known faces, from pop bands to international DJs and rock artists.
While the lineup for 2024 has yet to be announced, we do know that the event will take place July 26-28. As Low Festival is one of the most anticipated festivals in Benidorm, be sure to acquire your tickets as soon as possible.
It’s useful to remember that there is no airport in Benidorm, so you will likely need to fly to Alicante Airport and make your way to the city from there. While the distance is relatively short, you should book your Alicante transfers ahead of time to ensure you reach your accommodation with ease.
EXIT Festival, Novi Sad
What started as a student movement has now turned out to be one of the biggest and most impressive electro-forward dance events in the whole world. From July 11 to July 14, join over 200,000 like-minded individuals at the Petrovaradin Fortress in Serbia to commemorate the 24th edition of the festival.
Since its establishment in 2000, EXIT has won the award for ‘Best Major European Festival’ twice, along with recognition from global music legends and fans alike. Past headliners include The Prodigy, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, The Chainsmokers, and many more.
It is a place of social relevance, with the festival taking a stance on activism. During the course of the weekend, you’ll find various activities focusing on positive transformation, recycling, mental health, and educating young people.
