Post-rock powerhouse And So I Watch You From Afar have released a new tour documentary ahead of their headline dates.
The band comment: “Megafauna Europe begins in just a couple of days – Here’s a little treat to get you in the mood…
“As 2024 gradually drew to a close, we took to the familiar motorways of the UK to promote Megafauna. On this, our 7th studio album, we tried to tackle something of the camaraderie and community that we had been witness to growing up in the DIY scenes of Ireland’s North Coast. The band has always prided itself on trying to foster a similar atmosphere as we take our records out into the world. In this video scrap book Hannah Young has illustrated how the band’s touring life mixes both this quest for meaningful connection but also a quiet everyday mundanity. The ups, the downs and the middles of taking to the road.”
Over the last 16 years, Northern Ireland’s instrumental rock quartet And So I Watch You From Afar have defied the layman’s definition of post-rock by absorbing new ideas and pushing the boundaries of their intricate and ecstatic guitar-based compositions. Crashing out of the gate with the big-riff worship and arena-level melodic heroics of their eponymous debut, ASIWYFA have continuously introduced new spins on their original sound while simultaneously expanding their sonic palette with every new album, taking in and repurposing everything from African high life to Irish trad to the weirdo math-rock of the late ‘90s / early ‘00s.
