The Charlatans have announced a major UK tour for spring 2026, following the release of their brand-new album We Are Love on Friday, October 31, via BMG. The 10-date tour will kick off at Norwich UEA on 24th April and conclude at Edinburgh Corn Exchange on 6th May, marking a triumphant return for one of Britain’s most enduring indie bands. Tickets go on general sale this Friday, 31st October, at 9:00am.
The tour promises to be both a celebration of The Charlatans’ remarkable three-decade career and an opportunity for fans to hear new material from We Are Love, their first album in eight years. With a career spanning 14 albums, 22 Top 40 singles, and three Number One albums, the band remain one of the UK’s most beloved acts, responsible for era-defining anthems including ‘The Only One I Know’, ‘North Country Boy’, and ‘One to Another’.
The eight-year gap between albums represents the longest hiatus in The Charlatans’ history. A combination of the COVID pandemic, solo projects, life’s complexities, and the fact that the five band members now live scattered across Europe meant it took longer than usual for the stars to align. The wait has allowed the band to create what they describe as a bold new era, finding them at peace with their past whilst looking forward to a bright future.
For We Are Love, The Charlatans assembled an impressive production team including Dev Hynes (Blood Orange, Lightspeed Champion) and Fred Macpherson (Spector, Rachel Chinouriri), alongside legendary producer Stephen Street, whose credits include The Smiths, Blur, and The Cranberries. The album’s lead single, ‘We Are Love’, serves as a celebratory statement of intent, described as an urgent, limber, clattering love song to the human race.
The band’s current lineup features Tim Burgess on vocals, Martin Blunt on bass, Mark Collins on guitar, Tony Rogers on keyboards, and Pete Salisbury on drums. Despite living across different parts of Europe, the five members have reunited to create an album that showcases why they’ve remained relevant for over three decades in an ever-changing music landscape.
The tour will take The Charlatans to venues across England, Wales, and Scotland, offering fans nationwide the chance to experience both classic hits and new material. The spring 2026 dates represent a significant moment for British indie music, as one of the genre’s pioneering acts returns to stages across the country.
