The multi-award-winning independent festival Bearded Theory has announced that a limited release of super early bird tickets for its 2027 event will go on sale this Saturday, following a triumphant 17th year at Catton Park in Derbyshire. 15,000 festival-goers basked in sun-drenched fields across the bank holiday weekend, treated to five days of alternative music, community spirit, and morning-to-night entertainment.
Celebrating their 40th anniversary, alt-rock trailblazers Pixies delivered a masterful no-frills headline performance on the Pallet stage, delighting fans by playing ‘Wave Of Mutilation’ twice. Friday night saw an explosive set from Skunk Anansie, with vocalist Skin commanding the crowd in a Matrix-esque trench coat, while Sunday concluded with a fierce finale from Garbage and a spectacular firework display over the night sky.

Sunday delivered a gleeful punk performance from Cowboy Hunters and ska classics from The Specials’ Neville Staple, before gypsy punks Fat Dog whipped the crowd into a final frenzy.
Beyond the main stages, the festival’s thriving community spirit was evident across its numerous creative spaces. The innovative festival school returned on Friday alongside a brand new pre-school initiative, while Beans On Toast hosted his annual Woodland takeover on Saturday, complete with a surprise set from Frank Turner and comedy from Stewart Lee. Music fans also flocked to Rough Trade for meet and greets with artists including Warmduscher and The Twilight Sad, while The Knockerdown Speakers’ Corner hosted interviews and lively evening karaoke.
Late-night revellers sought debauchery in Convoy Cabaret and beneath the giant pink octopus of the Maui Waui tent, dancing to the likes of Roni Size and A Guy Called Gerald into the early hours. For those needing respite, the EARTH wellness space offered everything from cold plunge sessions to tarot readings, and The Magic Teapot provided intimate unplugged secret sets, ensuring the 17th edition of Bearded Theory offered something for everyone.
