Marshall completes its Jimi Hendrix 60th anniversary collection with three new products

Marshall has unveiled the final three products in its Marshall x Hendrix 60th Anniversary Collection, marking 60 years since Jimi Hendrix first plugged into one of the brand’s amplifiers. The new additions, the Major V headphones, the Emberton III portable speaker, and the JMH Studio amplifier, are all reimagined with a cosmic, psychedelic aesthetic inspired by the guitarist’s music and art.

Janey Hendrix, who oversees the guitarist’s legacy, said the partnership carries personal significance. “The story of Jimi and Marshall has always been personal to me because I first heard it from my dad, Al Hendrix. Dad was there and shared those memories with me, so I carry that story only one degree from its source,” she said. “Jimi was always searching for a sound that did not yet exist, pushing beyond what anyone thought an electric guitar could do. Marshall gave him the power and freedom to turn those bold ideas into a sound the world had never heard before. Sixty years later, that connection between Jimi and Marshall still speaks to new generations of musicians who are pushing creative boundaries and searching for their own sound.”

The Major V on-ear headphones and Emberton III speaker are available to buy now at marshall.com, priced at £129.99 and £149.99 respectively, with a wider release at select retailers from 9th September. The JMH Studio Edition Bundle, the priciest of the trio at £1,749.99, goes on sale via marshall.com and select retailers from 9th September.

Each product borrows heavily from Hendrix’s visual identity. The Major V headphones come in black with psychedelic graphics, a purple oil-on-water design running through the headband and ear cups, and the recurring “all-seeing eye” motif tied to Hendrix’s fascination with the third eye and expanded vision. The Emberton III carries the same oil-on-water pattern across its sleeve and grille, with a silver all-seeing eye on the media jog dial and purple LEDs, while its silicone sleeve is hand-dipped using a water transfer print, making every unit unique.

The JMH Studio amplifier is the standout of the range, hand-built at Marshall’s factory in Bletchley, UK, reimagining the classic Studio Vintage design. Constructed from plywood and wrapped in black Tolex, it features a black and purple psychedelic pattern across the fret and control panel, a purple LED indicator, and intricate silver beading across the knobs, handle, logo, grille and back panel, a nod to the silver jewellery that formed part of Hendrix’s personal style. Marshall says the amp delivers “expressive cleans and deep blues textures” alongside “expansive, harmonically rich, and searing amplified sound”, making it suited to both live performance and studio recording.

Marshall has also released a video interview filmed at the Granada Theatre in Dallas, in which American blues rock artist Ally Venable discusses how the Marshall and Hendrix legacy has shaped her own music. The interview is available to watch here.

This release marks the conclusion of the Marshall x Hendrix 60th Anniversary Collection, which has run throughout the year to celebrate the relationship between the guitarist and the amplifier brand he helped make famous. Full details on the entire range are available at marshall.com.
