It has been over 10 years since Mostly Jazz, Funk & Soul started out as a small two-day event for 1,000 people in the heart of Birmingham. It has now grown into the summer party get-together for thousands of people from across the UK and beyond, who converge on the Midlands for this wildly eclectic weekend.
Sadly, due to the coronavirus outbreak, Mostly Jazz, Funk & Soul Festival has been postponed to 2021. This means the festival has lost a year’s worth of revenue as well as a whole host of un-recoupable costs already spent on the 2020 event. The team – the same independents who also run Moseley Folk Festival also created the much-missed Lunar Festival – now find themselves in a deeply difficult situation.
As it stands there hasn’t been much financial support for UK festivals so far, though the guys are very grateful for the government loan schemes, though these still need to be repaid. This is a huge burden for an independent company in a very challenging sector which has been turned completely upside down by the pandemic.

With the physical gates closed this summer, this weekend the virtual gates will be opening for a fantastic one-day online festival to be immersed in from the comfort of home or the garden, which will take place on Saturday 11th July from 11am. Artists include Brian Jackson, The Allergies, Norman Jay, Hannah Williams, Danielle Moore (Crazy P), Steve Cobby (Fila Brazilia) + many more. The team will look back through the years discussing how the festival was created, how they book the bands and some funny anecdotes which have helped create the festival.
There will be Q&As with some artists past and present, exclusive live past performances/DJ sets, virtual yoga, food & drink delivery.
