UK punk and new wave icons The Stranglers have been announced as the third headliner for the debut Live at Tileyard North concert series. The legendary group will take to the stage in the historic courtyard of Rutland Mills in central Wakefield on Friday 21st August 2026.
The Stranglers will be joined by a formidable support lineup featuring fellow punk heavyweights Buzzcocks, acclaimed alternative-indie quintet FEET, and Irish garage rock trio Adore. This announcement adds to a growing roster for the new two-week series of outdoor live music, curated by local independent promoters Futuresound.
Tickets for the event will be available via a special pre-sale for local residents with postcodes WF1 through WF6, starting at 10am on Wednesday 21st January. The general sale will follow at 10am on Friday 23rd January. Tickets will be available via Live at Tileyard North.
The Stranglers join previously announced headliners for the inaugural series. The Vaccines are set to perform their debut album What Did You Expect From the Vaccines? in full on Sunday 30th August, celebrating 15 years since its release. Meanwhile, pop sensation Sophie Ellis-Bextor will headline the outdoor venue earlier in the week on Thursday 27th August.
Fans attending the Wakefield show can expect a setlist spanning six decades. Following their massive 50th-anniversary celebrations in 2024—which included a sell-out show at the Royal Albert Hall and the release of the live album Fifty Years In Black—the band shows no signs of slowing down. Bass icon Jean-Jacques Burnel and guitarist/vocalist Baz Warne continue to front the group, joined by drummer Jim Macaulay and keyboardist Toby Hounsham.
Special guests Buzzcocks remain one of the most influential bands of the punk era, known globally for anthems like ‘Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve?)’. Operating as a trio following the passing of Pete Shelley, the band is currently active on the touring circuit with The Sex Pistols and The Stranglers. They are set to release their new album, Attitude Adjustment, this month (January 2026).
The concert series is presented by Futuresound, the independent West Yorkshire promoters recently named Regional Promoter of the Year at the 2025 Live Awards. With nearly thirty years of experience in the region, the team is responsible for major events including Live at Leeds, Slam Dunk Festival, and the Live at Kirkstall Abbey series.
Live at Tileyard North aims to bring a large-scale outdoor music experience to Wakefield, utilizing the impressive backdrop of the Tileyard North development. The series promises unique performances from both musical icons and rising stars throughout August 2026.
