Ross MacDonald, bassist with The 1975, and Brian MacDonald, bassist with American pop-rock band PVRIS, have set off on a 1,100 mile cycling challenge, riding the iconic Land’s End to John O’Groats route in aid of music therapy charity Nordoff and Robbins.
The pair are tackling the legendary ‘LEJOG’ route alongside friends Darren and Matt, riding from the most westerly point of mainland England to the northernmost tip of mainland Scotland over the course of two weeks. The four cyclists will face all kinds of terrain and weather conditions, covering distances of up to 100 miles per day.
All money raised will go towards Nordoff and Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity, which has been shaping its practice for more than 60 years. The charity’s work spans a huge range of transformative outcomes, from an adult with dementia reconnecting with family to an autistic child finding their voice.
It costs £19,000 for Nordoff and Robbins to train a single music therapist over two years, and Ross and Brian are aiming to raise as much as possible to fund the next generation of music therapists. Donations can be made directly through charity fundraising platform Enthuse at bit.ly/NR-ride.
Ross MacDonald is best known as the bassist in The 1975, who headlined TRNSMT Festival in 2023 and completed their Still At Their Very Best arena tour across the UK and Europe in early 2024. Brian MacDonald plays bass with PVRIS, who joined Fall Out Boy as a support act on their So Much For Tour Dust European run in 2023.
