The Beat Hotel announces 3-day retreat & broadcast in Ibiza

Starting out as a Glastonbury stage, then reimagined as a 4-day festival in Marrakech in 2019, the Beat Hotel reveals plans for its first happening in Ibiza, this October. In partnership with Patrón Tequila and Mambo Group, A Balearic Beat Hotel takes residence across two of the island’s most spectacular locations, sunset spot Hostal La Torre, and secluded beach cove, Cala Gracioneta for three days of music, wellbeing and talks.

With a music programme set to transcend the dancefloor, DJs appearing represent an expansive sonic palette covering ambient, jazz, downtempo and Balearic sounds. The line-up for Hostal La Torre includes South African DJ/musician and Worldwide FM resident Esa, Portuguese deep soul digger Mafalda, NTS resident and writer Zakia and Madrid-via-London DJ John Gomez. Founders of three of Europe’s most respected imprints also appear, bringing the softer and more unusual strains of dance to the White Isle.  Music curator, DJ and label boss of ‘Melody As Truth’, Jonny Nash lines up alongside ‘Music From Memory’ founder Jamie Tiller and street soul selector, Ruf Dug, owner of ‘Ruf Kutz’.

After three sunset sessions at Hostal La Torre, Friday night’s finale takes place at beach bar/restaurant Cala Gracioneta featuring a 4-hour back-to-back between two of house music’s great minds.  Ibiza legend and godfather of the Balearic sound, Alfredo, plays off with the Mancuso-mentored audiophile Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy in what is sure to touch on many of the vital scenes and sounds of the past 40 years.

Complementing the music will be a cultural programme featuring writers, raconteurs and wellbeing practitioners.  On Thursday 7th October, UK journalist and dance music historian Joe Muggs brings his “Ambient Salon” concept to the event, pairing a discussion around the importance of belonging and place, underpinned by an evocative drone/noise soundtrack.  Indie literary firebrand White Rabbit Books presents Page Raves for the afternoon session on Friday 8th, featuring DJ/broadcaster and author of the seminal Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, Bill Brewster, with Christian Len, author of 2020’s cultural history of Ibiza, Balearic, talking about immortalising dancefloor moments.   Elsewhere, Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard brings his “Modular Synth Workout” to Cala Gracioneta beach, and Ibiza-based wellbeing outfit Cosmic Pineapple host yoga and morning music healing sessions.

Ensuring guests are not only culturally nourished, but have their thirsts and hungers tended to, A Balearic Beat Hotel presents culinary collaborations, pairing the resident kitchen crews alongside guest chefs.  Soho favourite Barrafina partners with Hostal La Torre, presenting a set menu of tapas for three nights, October 6-8.  For the Friday finale, smoke and fire specialists Berber & Q bring their signature style to Cala Gracioneta for one night only.  Both venues will feature a menu of Patrón Tequila cocktails including a mix of classic serves and Beat Hotel exclusives.

DROP IN OR TUNE IN”

Wellbeing sessions, talks and DJ sets from the residency will be streamed via broadcast partners (and archives for on-demand) so, even if you can’t get to the island, you can tune in from home.  For all ticketing and reservations, head to www.beat-hotel.com for details
