bluedot – the award-winning festival that fuses music, science and culture at Cheshire’s iconic Jodrell Bank Observatory – has sold out ahead of opening this year’s event.
The final weekend pass for the 15,000-capacity event was purchased on Wednesday 3 July with only a small number of day tickets still available and selling quickly.
Featuring headliners Kraftwerk, New Order and Hot Chip alongside an incredible science and arts bill that includes luminaries from across those sectors including Britain’s first astronaut Helen Sharman, the forth edition of the unique bluedot festival will celebrate to the day the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing with a host of special performances and activities.
Said Festival Founder Ben Robinson: “It’s a huge honour to be able to curate this year’s festival around the celebration of the Apollo 11 landings. The whole team is delighted that we have sold out of weekend tickets two weeks before the show. Huge thanks to everyone involved for the outstanding commitment to making bluedot a truly unique and innovative festival experience. We can’t wait for people to see what we have put together this year, it’s going to be truly out of this world.”
Final day tickets are now available for The Hallé Orchestra performing Lift-Off (a special collection of legendary sci-fi and moon-related themes) on Thursday 18 July; Friday featuring Hot Chip, Jon Hopkins, Helen Sharman and James Burke; and Sunday, featuring New Order, John Grant, Wallace & Gromit and more.
bluedot 2019 is the fourth instalment of the groundbreaking event which has seen headline performances from the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Pixies, The Flaming Lips, Underworld and Jean-Michel Jarre, plus high-profile talks with Brian Cox, Richard Dawkins, Alice Roberts Dallas Campbell.
