This weekend, Blur are set to make their first-ever headlining appearance at London’s Wembley Stadium. Known for popular hits such as “Song 2” and “Parklife,” the band will be playing both Saturday and Sunday with different support acts for each gig.
In a conversation with Rolling Stone, the band’s drummer Dave Rowntree, aged 59, described Wembley as “the most iconic venue in the UK.” He reflected that the band had never played at this venue, even during the peak of their fame in the late Nineties.
Established in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James, and Dave Rowntree, the upcoming London performances precede the release of Blur’s first studio album in eight years, titled “The Ballad of Darren,” which is set to debut on July 21. The band’s new single, “The Narcissist,” is currently available.
Prior to their Wembley performances, Blur has toured across the UK and Ireland, with shows in Colchester, Eastbourne, Wolverhampton, Newcastle, and Dublin.
Although tickets for the Saturday night are reported to be sold out, there are still tickets for both dates available through Ticketmaster. Ticket prices start from £74.25, with golden circle tickets priced at £140.25 each.
