Festival season feels more important than ever this year after the pandemic robbed us of two years of music and fun. Your dreams of partying to the sounds of your favourite DJs in a field don’t need to be tainted by thoughts of mud and wellies though – there are festivals taking place just a short plane ride away that are set to have balmy t-shirt weather. And more importantly, you can still buy tickets!
Merchandise printing company, ICON Printing, has looked back at the past five years of weather data to reveal what the weather is predicted to do during Europe’s biggest festivals for summer 2022. Still looking to book a last-minute weekend of fun? These festivals still have tickets available – but hurry, with the weather looking this good, they won’t be around for long!

Nobody wants to wear a raincoat over their festival ‘fits, so to find out which festivals were set to have the best t-shirt weather we found out the average temperature over the dates of the event from the past five years and the average monthly rainfall for 26 of the most popular events across Europe. Taking these figures into consideration, we used a weighted ranking to reveal the 15 festivals with the best weather. Unsurprisingly, the soggy UK didn’t make the cut.
First held over 25 years ago, Super Bock Super Rock in Portugal outshined the majority of festivals, coming in top as the event expected to have the least rain (0.1mm) and a balmy temperature of 30°C. This was closely followed by Spanish indie and alternative music-filled Festival Internacional de Benicàssim and Mad Cool, held in the Spanish capital Madrid. Both festivals expect to see less than one millimetre of rain during the month of the festival and temperatures of almost 28°C and 31°C respectively. Sunny southern Spain and Portugal proved to be the best sun-soaked festival locations, with the top three festivals all located in these destinations. However, Split in Croatia, Budapest, Hungary and Dhërmi, Albania also ranked highly in the list.
