The 59th Montreux Jazz Festival kicks off tomorrow with a landmark celebration of Quincy Jones’ legacy crafted especially for Montreux and led by longtime friend and musical icon Chaka Khan. She will be joined by special guests who have collaborated with “Q” over the years, in Montreux and beyond.
Starting at 19:30 BST on Friday 4 July, this exclusive performance will be one of many shows that will be available to livestream for free on YouTube, bringing Montreux’s iconic lakeside experience directly to music lovers everywhere and continuing the Festival’s ambition to bring live music to as wide a public as possible.
The exclusive show is set to be a fitting tribute for a towering figure in Montreux’s history. Quincy Jones was not only a frequent performer and ambassador, but also a close friend and advisor to the Festival’s founder, Claude Nobs. Over the decades, he helped shape the Festival’s global outlook, fostering unforgettable performances and mentoring generations of artists on its stages.
Other artists confirmed for the livestream series include RAYE, Benson Boone, The Black Keys, FKA Twigs, Alanis Morissette, J Balvin, Bloc Party, Joe Bonamassa, London Grammar, RÜFÜS DU SOL and Celeste, with more to be announced soon. Each livestreamed performance is produced by Montreux Media Ventures and French director Yann Orhan in close collaboration with the artists to ensure a fully immersive, high-fidelity viewing experience.
Running from 4 – 19 July, this year the festival will feature an incredible array of talent as well as a free programme of over 600 events, and a full weekend dedicated to British music and culture.
