In the Round Festival is happy to announce more artists to the 2023 edition of the Roundhouse’s flagship festival, taking place from the 15th – 25th April. Emerging artists from Roundhouse’s Resident Artist talent development programme will join the bills as supports for the festival’s headline shows which were announced late last year. Artists include Celine Love, Teshay Makeda, Chisara Agor and Luca Manning.
Also supporting and personally selected by Dave Okumu & the 7 Generations is the critically acclaimed, Mobo-nominated artist Yazmin Lacey, who is set to release her highly anticipated debut album Voice Notes in February. Plus Folk singer-songwriter Katherine Priddy will support Guy Garvey as he brings his Finest Hour show to the Roundhouse.
In keeping with In the Round’s immersive experience, further events taking place throughout the iconic venue are shared today. As well as supporting Laura Veirs in the Main Space, Luca Manning will present an intimate performance entitled sonder, alongside Trans Voices, the UK’s first professional trans+ choir, Trans Vocalists, as part of their band. Diaspora Dialogues – the live podcast series created by DemiMa Mseleku – welcomes the lauded South African musician Thandiswe Mazwai as part of their in conversation series; they’ll explore African ancestry and migration through the lens of music and culture. These additional shows go on sale on Wednesday 1 February at 9am.
The #Merky Books Literature Festival will run on 22-23 April as part of Roundhouse’s In the Round Festival. A celebration of creativity, culture and arts, the event will showcase both established authors and new voices from Stormzy’s imprint at Penguin Random House.
Over two full days, the line-up features authors, songwriters, directors, screenwriters, illustrators, editors and podcasters – from poet Sophia Thakur, Keisha the Sket author Jade LB to playwright Theresa Ikoko and finance expert Bola Sol. An assortment of masterclasses, talks and live performance will focus on providing creative opportunities to young people through writing and insights into breaking into the creative industries.

ITR has become a renowned annual festival that sees an eclectic mix of artists perform incredibly special gigs on the Roundhouse main stage. Fully seated while surrounding its famed circular stage, it’s the venue like you’ve never seen it before: spectacular while offering a singular kind of closeness.
Roundhouse’s Head of Music Lucy Wood states: “Audiences have unique and up-close experiences of music, whilst artists have the opportunity to present their work to a rapt, attentive crowd in a big, beautiful space” adding, “as well as intimate gigs in the Roundhouse Main Space, other activities – all rooted in music – will take place throughout the venue, in keeping with the ITR ethos of providing platforms for diverse creativity to thrive”
A go-to festival for eclecticism, previous mainstage performers include acclaimed veterans Ronnie Spector, Patti Smith, Beverly Knight, Emeli Sande and Ghetts. Young emerging talents who have seen recent critical and mainstream success, such as Hak Baker and Goat Girl, have also performed at the festival.
2021 saw ITR forge into a fully-fledged festival that utilised the whole venue. 2023 will offer the same experience with events of multiple artistic disciplines taking place in the Studio Theatre, Hub and Roundhouse Bar and Cafe.
