Jamie T lands second number one album with Ghosts

Jamie T

Jamie T has landed his second Official Charts number one album, with his sixth record, Ghosts (100 Days of Morning), beating Chase & Status to the top spot. Released on 9 October via Polydor, the album sold 18,500 units in its first week and was confirmed as number one today (Friday 16 October).

It follows 2022’s The Theory of Whatever, his first chart-topping album, and puts him among a small handful of solo British artists with consecutive number ones this decade. He also topped the Official Vinyl Albums Chart and the Official Record Store Chart. Chase & Status finish at number two with Generic Everything, while taking number one on the Official Dance Albums Chart.

Speaking to the Official Charts Company, Jamie T said: “Thanks to all the fans that made this happen. I’m eternally grateful.”

Since its release a week ago, Ghosts has picked up five and four star reviews from NME, Louder Than War, Classic Pop, Clash, Uncut, Music OMH, The London Standard and the i Paper. NME called it Jamie T “in peak form”, “as powerful a songwriter as ever, now backed with a sense of positivity and peace”. Esquire, in its 2026 Better Men issue, called him “a timeless voice”. Uncut dubbed him the “voice of an indie generation”.

The album was written over a solo trip to Siena and built from years of lost voice notes and sketches. At its centre is a cover of Ghosts by The Jam, a Paul Weller song about owning the hidden parts of your identity. Jamie rediscovered it while struggling to rehearse for his Finsbury Park show. The opening line (“Why are you frightened, can’t you see it’s you / That’s not a ghost it’s a reflection of you”) hit him hard. “Slowly I found a way,” he said. “A song genuinely helped me put my life back together and get to where I am now.”

The 11-track record opens with the anthemic 3310, a Nokia brick-phone tribute that sent old handsets trending on resale sites. Waist 36, Leg 32, a Jack Saunders Hottest Record and an EA Sports FC 27 soundtrack cut, takes on guilt, masculinity and consumerism. Tallahassee samples Leif Vollebekk and nods to British icons. Cocktail features additional keys from Damon Albarn. Other tracks include All I Wanna See Is Now, The Won, Chelsea Girls, Crimson & Clover, Crucible and Caught Cheating. Videos for Tallahassee, 3310 and Waist 36, Leg 32 are out now. The album is available to stream and buy now.

The chart news lands at the end of a run that has put Jamie T back at the centre of British live music. He sold out 40,000 people at Finsbury Park in 2023, with IDLES and Kojey Radical among the support. Earlier this year he joined Fred again.. on Lights Burn Dimmer, a reworking of his 2023 track Hippodrome, timed to a one-off Alexandra Palace date on Fred’s 10 shows in 10 weeks run. He also played a secret sold-out show at Scala, his first there in 20 years, and opened the main stage at Reading Festival with a last-minute 33-minute set.

He has previously headlined Tramlines and Y Not, topped the bill at Victorious, and joined The Maccabees for their All Points East return. Across a 20-year career he has multiple platinum and gold albums (Panic Prevention, Kings & Queens, Carry on the Grudge) and singles (Zombie, Sticks ‘n’ Stones, Sheila), more than 800 million global streams, and collaborations with Damon Albarn and Gorillaz, Lily Allen and The Maccabees. He has headlined Brixton Academy eight times and played Glastonbury four times, including two Woodsies (John Peel) headline slots. Next year marks 20 years of his debut, Panic Prevention.

In December he plays a nationwide UK tour, his first run of shows in four years, with extra dates added in Birmingham, London and Glasgow after demand. The London shows have moved from Olympia to OVO Arena Wembley, a venue he has not played before, after the original dates could not go ahead. Ticket holders will be contacted about the exchange.
