Have you ever lost your phone in a festival toilet? Have you ever thought it would be possible to get it back?
TheFestivals team attended Kendal Calling earlier this month, a family-friendly music festival held high in the hills of the Lake District National Park. While there, we uncovered the story of a festival-goer who experienced the ultimate festival mishap – dropping her phone into a toilet at 2 AM on her very first night.
You might wonder, would you even want your phone back after it took a dive into a festival toilet? Surprisingly, this story has a happy ending, all thanks to the extraordinary efforts of a security guard named Abdul and the unsung heroes of the festival cleaning team.
“It was my first time at Kendal Calling, and since we only arrived on Friday evening, I was excited to explore the festival and see what it had to offer,” Daina Ramanauskaitė recalled. “Unfortunately, the first night took an unexpected and sad turn—I lost my phone in one of the portable toilets at Lost Eden.”
Daina told us about Abdul – a kind member of the security team who, despite the late hour, made sure the message about the lost phone was passed along.
The next morning, Daina returned to the same spot around 8 AM, and to her amazement, the morning security guard had her phone. Abdul had made sure the toilet cleaning team knew to look for it, and they not only found it but cleaned it up ready for handover.
When she received her phone, the security guard cheerfully commented, “Did you know your phone is waterproof?” It was a small miracle and a testament to the kindness and dedication of the festival staff.
Losing your phone in a portable toilet: a disaster at any time, but even more so on your first night of a festival.
Call it good karma or the determined nature of the festival-goer, but if you ever lose your phone in a festival toilet, it just might end up being a fun story – or a great addition to a game of “two truths and a lie”.
