Superband Blue Water Giants have announced the release of their new single ‘Dangerously in Love’ on 29th April, with all proceeds going directly to UK charity Cure Parkinson’s — and the project has received a major endorsement from Sir Roger Daltrey of The Who.
Daltrey joins an impressive roll-call of music legends who have supported the Think Loud 4 Parkinson’s project, a charity album raising funds and awareness around the disease. Alongside Daltrey, Alice Cooper, Pete Townshend, and Sir Richard Branson have all lent their names to the campaign. The project previously caught the eye of the late Ozzy Osbourne, who subsequently chose Cure Parkinson’s as one of three charity sponsors for Black Sabbath’s farewell show at Villa Park last summer.
The driving force behind the project is Ian Grant, a music industry figure and consultant to Blue Water Giants, who has Parkinson’s himself. Grant and the Think Loud team have worked to rally some of rock’s biggest names behind the cause, with Daltrey’s involvement marking the latest significant moment in the campaign.
Blue Water Giants are a stellar ensemble built from some well-credentialed names in British rock and pop. The band is helmed by Josh Philips, known for his work with Procol Harum, who has collaborated with artists ranging from Big Country to Pete Townshend. He is joined by Neil Taylor, the acclaimed guitarist best known for his work with Tears For Fears and Robbie Williams, and Mel Gaynor, the long-serving drummer of Simple Minds who has also performed with Elton John and Lou Reed. Known for high-energy live sets, the band have already made their mark on the festival circuit, having recently played the Isle of Wight Festival.
‘Dangerously in Love’ is a three-track single. Alongside the title track, it features an instrumental version and a cover of Procol Harum’s rumbustious cut ‘Drunk Again’ — a fitting nod to Josh Philips’ history with the legendary band. Blue Water Giants are donating all income generated by the single to Cure Parkinson’s.
