The Cribs have released their new single ‘A Point Too Hard To Make’, the latest preview from their highly anticipated album Selling A Vibe, due out on 9 January 2026. The band simultaneously announced a major outdoor headline show at Leeds Millennium Square on 11 July 2026, marking their return to the venue after a decade. Pre-sale tickets for the Leeds gig go on sale Wednesday 29 October at 9am, with general sale starting Friday 31 October at 9am.
The Leeds performance holds special significance, as it revisits the site of their last appearance there ten years ago, when they shared the stage with Thurston Moore. ‘A Point Too Hard To Make’ follows the August lead single ‘Summer Seizures’, which garnered strong fan and media acclaim. Featuring the band’s signature chiming guitars and dual-vocal call-and-response style, the track delves into themes of brotherhood and reflection central to the album.
Selling A Vibe represents The Cribs’ first full-length release in over five years, produced by Patrick Wimberly (known for work with Solange, MGMT and Chairlift) and mixed by Lars Stalfors (Lil Peep, St. Vincent). The Jarman brothers—Gary, Ryan and Ross—used the album to reconnect after years apart across time zones, stepping away from the relentless release-tour cycle to focus on family bonds. Recorded in a more deliberate process, it emphasizes pop melodies and contemporary techniques while avoiding past formulas.
Bassist and vocalist Gary Jarman shared insights on the new single: “All that 2000’s damage, basically. Small-town romantics – years spent longing for connection, escape, excitement – given in abundance, for an entire decade. What do you do when the party is over? Where does it leave you? We will let you know if/when we get there. We’ve still got each other though. That’s what this one is about, a bit of a kitchen-sinker, really.” The video highlights an emotional embrace between Gary and Ryan, underscoring the album’s personal themes.
The album explores rediscovering relationships amid past challenges, including legal issues with their former label and the isolation of the Covid-19 pandemic following their 2020 release Night Network. Tracks like ‘Distractions’, ‘Self Respect’ and the closing ‘Brothers Won’t Break’ capture raw energy and familial resilience. Jarman added: “I think as time has gone by our albums have become more and more open – and as such the songs on Selling A Vibe feel very personal. So it can be nerve wracking releasing them because they matter so much to us… We want them to be for everyone, really.”
The Cribs’ history includes collaborations with producers like Edwyn Collins, Steve Albini and Ric Ocasek, but Wimberly’s modern approach brought fresh experimentation. One track, ‘You’ll Tell Me Anything’, was initially recorded by Gordon Raphael of The Strokes. The band emphasizes releasing music only when it adds meaningful value, viewing this album as a renewal after two decades together.
In addition to the Leeds show, The Cribs have confirmed a 2026 UK headline tour with support from Courting. Several dates are already sold out, reflecting strong demand.
