Top 10 Most Promiscuous UK festivals

The top 10 music festivals where you’re most likely to pull

14th June 2018 Off By

It turns out, some festivals are way more promiscuous than others. At some festivals, nearly two-thirds of people report kissing someone other than an existing partner over the course of the weekend.

Thanks to a study conducted by SpaSeekers, we now know at which festivals you’re the most likely to get with someone new. We also know where you’ll kiss the most people, and where you’re most likely to find a partner that hasn’t showered all weekend. Tasty.

We’ve ranked the top 10 most promiscuous British festivals below, so scroll down for all the weird-and-wonderful statistics you didn’t know you needed.

Jason Goldberg, Director of SpaSeekers, told TheFestivals:

“Attending a festival weekend is a rite of passage every Brit goes through, and while people will be having the time of their lives watching their favourite musicians our research showed they are prepared to get a little dirty and sacrifice some sleep.

“We were surprised to discover that Download Festival is where Brits are getting the most sleep, while festival goers at Bestival will be feeling a bit sleep deprived getting just over three hours of sleep a night!

“Whether Brits are going to enjoy rock at Download or dance music at Creamfields, what really matters is that Brits enjoy the amazing festival atmosphere and have a great weekend.”

Ranked: Top 10 Promiscuous Festivals

1. Wireless Festival

London’s Wireless Festival topped the charts, ever so slightly besting Bestival to be crowned the UK’s most promiscuous.

A whopping 64% of Wireless attendees reported kissing someone other than an existing partner at the festival, whilst 53% also reported having slept with their fledgeling romance over the weekend.

Wireless takes place in Finsbury Park in early July, but don’t get too excited, as tickets are completely sold out. This year’s headliners include Stormzy and DJ Khaled.

2. Bestival

In a very close second place, 62% of Bestival fans admitted to kissing someone other than an existing partner at the festival.

Whilst this is slightly less kissing than at Wireless, a slightly higher percentage of Bestival fans took it all the way and had sex with a new partner, 54% having done so.

Having moved to mainland Dorset from it’s Isle of Wight home, Bestival finally no longer requires an expensive ferry journey. Taking place in the first weekend of August, weekend tickets are still available. They even do student discount.

3. Parklife

Having recently been ranked the UK’s cleanest festival, it’s no surprise to see Manchester’s Parklife ranking highly.

59% of Parklife attendees kissed someone new, whilst 47% reported sleeping with a new partner. Around 26% admitted kissing 4 or more people throughout the weekend.

With Parklifers kissing 2.17 people on average, that’s even more than the Wireless average of 2.11!

This year’s Parklife took place last weekend, and featured big names like Skepta, Lorde, and Liam Gallagher whilst basking in glorious sunshine. Early bird tickets for Parklife 2019 are available now for £99.50.

4. Latitude

51% of Latitude attendees reporting kissing someone new at the festival. 51% also reported having sex with someone new.

Are these the same 51%? We’re not sure. Weird.

Among others, the Suffolk festival features The Killers, alt-J, Solange, The Vaccines, Wolf Alice, and Rag ‘N’ Bone Man this year. Taking place over the 13th-15th July, full weekend and Friday/Sunday day tickets are still available.

Unsurprisingly, day tickets for The Killers’ Saturday headline set have long since sold out, so if you fancy going to the UK’s fourth most promiscuous festival whilst hearing Mr Brightside played live, you’ll need to be in it for the weekend.

5. Creamfields

Cheshire’s dance mecca charted in fifth place, with 49% of attendees having kissed someone new. 31% reported sleeping with a new partner.

Creamfields fans were also the most likely not to change their underwear, with 13% rocking the same pair all weekend.

Set for the late August bank holiday, Fatboy Slim, Major Lazer, and Chase & Status will all be there this summer.

Whilst you’ll see a lot of ‘sold out’ signs on their ticket page, full weekend and day tickets are all still available if you move fast.

6. BBC Big Weekend

This year’s BBC Big Weekend took place across Belfast, Perth, Swansea, and Coventry in late May. Swansea were blessed with an early Ed Sheeran performance. Noel Gallagher headlined the Perth show, whilst brother Liam headlined in Coventry.

Oh, and like Glastonbury, you can watch all this year’s sets on iPlayer until you’re sick of them.

Last year, 39% of BBC Big Weekend attendees kissed someone new, whilst 30% also slept with a new partner.

Coming in at seventh place is the historic Isle of Wight Festival, originally held way back in 1968. That is, until 700,000 people turned up in 1970 and the authorities shut it down.

At the reformed Isle of Wight Fest, 38% of attendees said they kissed someone new, whilst 28% got laid during their time on the island.

This year marks the festival’s 50th anniversary and takes place later this month from 21st-24th June. Kasabian, Depeche Mode, Liam Gallagher, and The Killers will all be there, among countless other big-name acts.

Tickets are still available, with substantial discounts for students, teenagers, and island residents.

8. Download Festival

The spiritual home of metal, Download Festival just paid £5 million for Guns N’ Roses to headline. It’s also a place where 40% of fans don’t shower the entire five days, and 10% don’t even brush their teeth.

Despite this, Download have scraped into the top 10 in eighth place, with 36% kissing and 24% sleeping with someone new.

Whilst you’ve missed this year’s event last weekend, tickets for Download 2019 are already on sale.

9. V Festival

V Festival doesn’t exist anymore, since sponsor Virgin pulled out last year. Across both V Festival sites, 33% of people kissed someone new, and 25% of them went all the way.

Whilst the site of V Fest North lays barren, V Fest South has been revived for 2018 as RiZE Festival

Featuring Liam Gallagher, Stereophonics, and James Bay, tickets for RiZE are still available, and have even had a price cut!

10. Reading and Leeds Festival

Squeezing into the final place in the top 10, Reading and Leeds Festivals will this year welcome Fall Out Boy, Kendrick Lamar, and Kings of Leon.

Panic! At The Disco and Courteeners will also feature at the festivals where 31% reported kissing and 19% had sex with someone other than an existing partner.

They’re not until the last weekend of August, so you’ve got plenty of time to practise your best festival chat up lines and save up to buy a drink or two.
