Middlesbrough’s award-winning music festival Twisterella have shared the full lineup for this year’s event, with a final wave of promising artists set to join the already impressive bill of emerging talent on Saturday 12th October as the cherished new music all-dayer celebrate their ten year anniversary.
Leading the announcement are The Howl & The Hum, who will take to the main stage at Teesside University for a special opening set as reverse headliners. No strangers to the festival having played much-loved sets in 2019 and 2021, the musical project helmed by Leeds-based songwriter Sam Griffiths will return to Middlesbrough following the release of their much-anticipated second album ‘Same Mistake Twice’ this September.
Alongside The Howl & The Hum are fast-rising alternative indie-pop quartet Low Girl, hotly-tipped Crewe punks Christian Music, Cardiff-based post-punk newcomers Slate, and Leeds/Wakefield garage-rock outfit Tiger Island, who all join a stellar list of already announced names including festival headliners Chalk, Pom Poko and Martha, along with local favourites in the form of Be Quiet.Shout Loud!, Amelia Coburn and much more.
Taking place around Teesside University and Middlesbrough Town Hall, Twisterella’s metropolitan, multi-venue format offers value and convenience to festival goers, providing them with a unique opportunity to witness numerous incredible performances throughout the day. In the years since its inception, the event has become a central part of the north east’s flourishing music scene and was recognised with an AIF Independent Festival Award in 2019 for its innovative approach to developing and showcasing new talent.
Now celebrating its 10th year, Twisterella has previously played host to established acts such as Sam Fender, Pip Blom, Dream Wife and Prima Queen, whilst the festival’s co-promoters have a proven track record of bringing exciting talent to the region having hosted early shows for the likes of The 1975, Wolf Alice, Alt-J, Daughter and many more.
2024 will also see the return of (Un)Conference; a vital, inclusive forum which brings key figures from across the music industry together in Middlesbrough to share their expertise, offering advice and feedback to Teesside’s next exciting generation of artists.
