Wet Leg delivered a stunning double performance at Green Man on Friday, first playing a packed-out secret set before taking to the Mountain Stage for their triumphant headline slot. The appearance marked a full-circle moment for the band, who made their Green Man debut on the Far Out stage in 2021.

The day was marked by surprise appearances, with melancholic alt-pop artist BC Camplight also performing an unannounced set on the Mountain Stage. Friday’s lineup also featured standout performances from Wunderhorse, who primed the crowd for the headliners, and Greentea Peng, who brought her soulful sound to the Far Out stage.

Beyond the main stages, the annual Green Man Pride March saw a huge crowd parade through the festival site to celebrate Queer love and identity. Friday evening at Green Man 2025 saw Wet Leg headline the Mountain Stage, a full circle moment since the band’s 2021 Green Man debut on the Far Out stage – a testament to Green Man’s dedication to supporting new talent.

Hot off the heels of their acclaimed sophomore album Moisturizer, the deadpan indie innovators brought their signature blend of sharp lyricism, offbeat charm, and razor-tight instrumentation to an electric Green Man crowd. Highlights from Wet Leg’s phenomenal set included their infectious breakout hit “Chaise Longue’, and new tongue-in-cheek crowd-pleaser ‘Mangetout’.  The headline performance followed a packed out, secret appearance at Round The Twist, where they performed an intimate set for Green Man sessions.

The Mountain Stage continued to captivate crowds throughout Friday at the festival, as Green Man Rising competition winners wing! opened the stage with a powerhouse set. Later in the day, melancholic alt-pop auteur BC Camplight surprised audiences with a secret set brimming with belters from his latest record A Sober Conversation. Despite the moon overhead as she headlined on Friday night, her sophomore record TELL DEM IT’S SUNNY rang true with hypnotised crowds.

Friday at Green Man also marked the opening of the Talking Shop stage, which offered festival-goers plenty of food for thought through a curated programme of talks, interviews, and discussions exploring a wide range of topics across culture and the arts. Located in the Babbling Tongues area of the festival site, this year’s talking shop is led by celebrated Welsh radio and television presenter Huw Stephens. London’s newest alt-rockers Silver Gore quickly caught the attention of festival goers as they brought their wavy pop melodies and indisputable charm to Green Man, before Leeds synth-pop six-piece Adult DVD headlined the stage with a euphoric set.

Green Man isn’t just a music festival, it also showcases some of the best emerging comedians, providing festival goers with laugh-out-loud comedy sets in-between outstanding music performances. The Last Laugh stage finished with a bang on Friday night, as BAFTA winner Spencer Jones delivered a hilarious headline set packed with quick-fire gags and comedic charm.
