Speculation is rampant that Foo Fighters are set to announce a major show at Liverpool’s Anfield stadium after a cryptic teaser was posted online by a major concert promoter. On Sunday, S.J.M. Concerts, through their GigsandTours social media account, shared an image showing the letters “FF” spelled out in the seats of the Kop stand, immediately sparking fan theories of an impending gig announcement.

The rumours were further fuelled when the well-regarded (though unofficial) fan account ‘Foo Fighters UK’ posted an image of a digital billboard, thought to be at Liverpool’s Lime Street station. The screen displayed the band’s distinctive ‘FF’ logo with the words “TAKE COVER 2026”. The fan account’s post added that European tour dates were “incoming” with an official “announcement this Monday”, all but confirming the original teaser was for the American rock giants and not other rumoured acts like Franz Ferdinand.
While an Anfield gig is the focus of current speculation, it is unclear if this would be a standalone UK exclusive, aside from a rumoured headline slot at Reading & Leeds Festival, or part of a wider series of stadium shows. Other potential venues, such as London Stadium, have also been mentioned by fans as possible locations for the expected 2026 tour.
A performance at Anfield would mark the band’s first gig in Liverpool since 1997. In 2008, frontman Dave Grohl made a guest appearance on stage with Sir Paul McCartney at Anfield, but the full Foo Fighters band did not perform. The band, fronted by the former Nirvana drummer, last toured the UK in 2024 for their ‘All Or Nothing’ tour, which included dates in Manchester, Glasgow, London, Cardiff, and Birmingham.
Anfield has become a premier destination for major international artists during the football off-season. In recent years, the stadium has hosted huge concerts by global stars such as Taylor Swift, P!nk, Bruce Springsteen, and The Eagles, cementing its reputation as a key UK live music venue.
