Legendary metal titans Megadeth have officially released the trailer for Megadeth: Behind The Mask, a major cinematic event set to hit screens worldwide on Thursday, January 22. Presented in partnership with Trafalgar Releasing, the film serves as a comprehensive celebration of the band’s 40-year legacy.

Tickets are on sale now for the exclusive screenings, which will take place in over 1,000 cinemas across more than 35 countries. This global event occurs just one day before the release of the band’s self-titled album, which has been confirmed as their final studio release. Fans can secure their seats and find local screening information at megadethfilm.com.

The newly released trailer offers a glimpse into what audiences can expect from the one-night-only event. Megadeth: Behind The Mask features frontman Dave Mustaine pulling back the curtain on four decades of the band’s history. Mustaine shares untold stories about the band’s turbulent past and the creative drive that has kept them at the forefront of the metal scene.

Beyond the retrospective elements, the film serves as a world premiere listening event for the new album. The cinematic experience weaves the full playback of the new self-titled record with a career-spanning interview and Mustaine’s own track-by-track reflections. This format allows fans to experience the “final chapter” of the band’s studio career in an immersive environment before it hits streaming services and record stores on January 23.

The current lineup featuring Dave Mustaine, Teemu Mäntysaari (guitars), James LoMenzo (bass), and Dirk Verbeuren (drums) has already teased the upcoming release with two tracks. Fans can currently listen to ‘I Don’t Care’ and the album’s lead single, ‘Tipping Point’.

In a move that brings Mustaine’s career full circle, the band has also announced a special bonus track for the final album: a reimagined version of ‘Ride The Lightning’. Mustaine originally co-wrote the track with Metallica’s James Hetfield, Cliff Burton, and Lars Ulrich for their 1984 album of the same name.

The film promises to capture the legacy of one of metal’s most influential bands while heralding this powerful new chapter. It is described as an “immersive celebration” designed to give the final studio album the launch it deserves.

The new album is available for pre-order now via Dave Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint, in partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s new BLKIIBLK label. For full track listings and pre-order options, fans can check the official links provided by the band.
