Megadeth have unveiled the complete track listing for their self-titled final album, set for release on January 23, 2026 via Dave Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint in partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s BLKIIBLK label . The 11-track album includes the previously released single ‘Tipping Point’ and features a very special bonus track: a reimagined version of ‘Ride The Lightning’, which Mustaine co-wrote with Metallica’s James Hetfield, Cliff Burton, and Lars Ulrich for the title track of their 1984 album .
The announcement comes seven months after Mustaine revealed earlier in 2025 that this would mark the final studio album from the legendary thrash metal band, who have sold over 50 million records worldwide and received a Grammy Award with 12 additional nominations . The inclusion of ‘Ride The Lightning’ holds particular significance as Mustaine returns to a song from his earliest days in metal, before he founded Megadeth in 1983 .
“As I come full circle on the career of a lifetime, the decision to include ‘Ride The Lightning’, a song I co-wrote with James, Lars, and Cliff, was to pay my respects to where my career first started,” Mustaine explained in today’s announcement . The album is available for pre-order now, with fans able to register for early access to exclusive information and offers surrounding the release .
The self-titled album’s full track listing comprises: ‘Tipping Point’, ‘I Don’t Care’, ‘Hey, God?!’, ‘Let There Be Shred’, ‘Puppet Parade’, ‘Another Bad Day’, ‘Made To Kill’, ‘Obey The Call’, ‘I Am War’, ‘The Last Note’, and ‘Ride The Lightning’ as the bonus track . The current Megadeth lineup features Mustaine alongside Teemu Mäntysaari on lead, rhythm, and acoustic guitars, James LoMenzo on bass guitar, and Dirk Verbeuren on drums .
The band released the album’s first single and video for ‘Tipping Point’ in early October, with the sonically explosive track launching with a thunderous guitar solo before Mustaine’s iconic vocals kick in . The accompanying video, directed by Leonardo Liberti, depicts Mustaine locked in a prison being tortured before ultimately persevering and walking away into a new day, while the band performs in the same facility .
Mustaine initially revealed the album and tour plans earlier this year through a social post shared directly with the band’s worldwide fanbase and Cyber Army, using his alter ego Vic Rattlehead to make the announcement . The post confirmed that this farewell album would close out a career spanning five decades, during which Megadeth have generated billions of streams, notched seven Top 10 entries on the Billboard 200, and enthralled millions of fans in arenas and stadiums globally .
Fans can expect the initial run of farewell tour dates to be announced later this year, giving audiences one final opportunity to experience the band’s legendary live performances . Also set for next year is a new memoir from Mustaine, with details to be revealed in the coming months .
Megadeth’s catalog spans indisputable classics including the platinum ‘Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?’ (cited at number 8 on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time”), the platinum ‘Rust In Peace’, and double-platinum ‘Countdown To Extinction’, which captured number 2 on the Billboard 200 . Their most recent album ‘The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!’ debuted at number 3 in 2022 and earned a Grammy Award nomination for “Best Metal Performance” with the track “We’ll Be Back” .
