If you’re considering a trip to Boomtown 2024, you’re probably wondering which artists will be on the line-up. Unlike most other festivals, the Boomtown line-up poster is still under wraps – in fact, they haven’t even confirmed a single headliner. We do however have a few clues, self-confirmations and rumours about a limited number of artists.
There’s a reason for this. In recent years, Boomtown organisers have taken a different approach and kept the line-up under wraps until just before the festival – and this hasn’t stopped tickets from selling out. While many people choose festivals based on the line-up, Boomtown have built a strong contingent of fans who will attend for the ‘Boomtown experience’ regardless of who might be playing.
Last year, the line-up was released on 1st August, and the year before, the line-up was revealed on the Sunday night before the festival – just three days before fans began to arrive on site. We don’t know the exact date of this year’s line-up release but we’re expecting a similar timescale.
Despite the organisers’ best efforts in keeping the music line-up top secret, some info inevitably slips out and makes its way into the hands of the online community. Some artists post their tour schedule on social media or reply to questions from followers and ‘self-confirm’ they’ll be on the Boomtown line-up, and the unofficial Boomtown subreddit has been doing a stellar job keeping on top of these updates. Unofficial line-up posters, such as the one shown below, are now being updated weekly and ‘stuck’ to the top of the subreddit.
Currently, 25 artists make up the unofficial Boomtown line-up’s confirmed and leaked section, including Caravan Palace, David Rodigan, Mandidextrous and Fat Freddy’s Drop.
Rumoured acts include such names as A.M.C., Asian Dub Foundation and Simula while the speculation section features Damien Marley, Korn, Pendulum, Sub Focus, The Prodigy and The Wailers, among others. It’s very unlikely we’ll see a majority of acts from this section on the line-up, but I’d guess we’ll get a couple.
Damien Marley is playing in London on the Saturday of Boomtown, with no other gigs announced between the previous Sunday and the following Wednesday. He’s played Boomtown in previous years and is probably one of the stronger possibilities.
Boomtown 2024, dubbed the ‘Revolution of Imagination’, takes place from Wednesday 7th August to Sunday 11th August near Winchester. Tickets are still available from the official Boomtown website.
