Having been a charity partner since 1992, the Greenpeace Field has become the heartbeat of Glastonbury – a place of astonishing creativity where unmissable live sets, incredible DJs and special guests collectively support Greenpeace’s mission. It’s a vibrant hub that brings activism, social & climate justice to the forefront of their campaign efforts, highlighting the ongoing vital work Greenpeace does to confront the perpetrators of environmental destruction, injustice and the climate crisis.
This year, the Greenpeace Field will be focusing on three central pillars for effective climate action: PROTEST, ACTIVISM, and notably – and perhaps most importantly – VOTING. Greenpeace is uniting the British public to push the next government – whoever it is – to take climate change seriously.
Greenpeace aims to remind Glastonbury goers, in the most fun way possible, of the collective power of individuals. Change is only achievable through collaboration, and the most impactful action you can take for the climate is to vote. That’s why Greenpeace have launched Project Climate Vote – and why we need everyone at Glastonbury to get involved and make this incredible opportunity count. We’re asking you to pledge to be a Climate Voter – and then to inspire as many people as possible to do the same. Project Climate Vote isn’t party political. But it is a vital way to force all political parties to massively up their game.
2024 is looking like another incredible line-up for the Greenpeace Field. This year the Greenpeace Stage will see festival exclusive sets from a diverse range of talents including British musician, writer and broadcaster Nabihah Iqbal, musician, composer, and producer Cosmo Sheldrake, British artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Liz Lawrence, Luton born DIY phenomenon Myles Smith, the 70’s sounding, part funk, part psychedelic sensation Willie J Healey and thought provoking, Mumbai based audio-visual artist Kiss Nuka . As well as sets from trailblazing South African musician and artist Moonchild Sanelly, Brighton punk three-piece Lambrini Girls, alt-folk troubadour Beans on Toast and many others.
Adding to the excitement, legendary primatologist and anthropologist Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, will grace the Greenpeace Stage with her presence on Friday morning and will give an inspiring call-to-action speech not to be missed.
Friday night on the Greenpeace Field has become synonymous with takeovers in recent years where they’ve seen HE.SHE.THEY. and international club night Glitterbox take the celebrations to whole new levels. This year sees two exciting takeovers on the same evening with Feel It and Confidence Man Presents: Active Scenes. Feel It is the queer super-party that’s taken London by storm. Produced by Little Gay Brother’s Clayton Wright and DJ Jodie Harsh, they are known for hectic scenes and a curated array of secret superstar guest DJ’s. Now, they’re finally breaking free from their sweaty backstreet rave and turning the Greenpeace fields into a joyful outdoor dance floor. Expect house music from sunset until midnight with the Feel It family of dancers and mischief makers, featuring DJ sets from Jaguar, DJ BORING B2B Joshua James, Cormac and I. Jordan.
Ain’t no party like a Con Man party. Also taking over on the Friday night are the non-stop party makers Confidence Man who return with another Glastonbury instalment of their late night rave: ACTIVE SCENES featuring Carlita, Confidence Man DJs, O’Flynn and Little Gay Brother dancers. It promises to be a pulsating, high-energy event in front of one of Glastonbury’s most legendary landmarks.
The iconic 22-metre high Rave Tree is also back with a bang over the weekend and will host an amazing array of DJs including Canadian house music producer, DJ and Grammy winner Jayda G, British-Pakistani producer of the moment, Ahadadream, one of the most exciting breakthrough DJs of recent years Yung Singh, the genre-bending producer and DJ Surusinghe, uniquely talented musical polymath Erol Alkan, house music legend and activist, DJ Paulette plus a DJ set from the lauded Manchester band Porij.
For the sporty amongst you, on Thursday at 10am, Greenpeace will be teaming up with Ravers 2 Runners for the second year running for the Glastonbury Fun Run. What better way to explore the fields of Avalon than a fun run around the festival? The course will be approximately 5km and all abilities are welcome. The run will start with a group warm-up in the Greenpeace Field, then will head off around the perimeter taking in all the main areas of Glastonbury Festival.
For those seeking a moment of respite, the Greenpeace Bar and plant-based Greenpeace Cafe offer a sanctuary, while adrenaline junkies can test their mettle on the massive Drop Slide and after watch the skaters catch some air on the infamous Greenpeace skate ramp, or find a very special kind of spandex-clad zen at the infamous Power Ballad Yoga sessions. BEAM, the beautiful walk-through sculptural installation and standing dead wood habitat that was created in 2019 by multi-award winning artist Wolfgang Buttress, best known for his Hive sculpture at Kew Gardens, returns this year in its new iteration as an Intersectional Activism Engagement zone.
All-in-all, 2024 is shaping up to live up to expectations of recent years at Greenpeace Field which has included unforgettable performances from Bimini, Self Esteem, Lottery Winners,Fatboy Slim, Nova Twins, Mel C, Tim Burgess, Say She She, VC Pines, Lava La Rue, R.A.E and many more. With over 200,000 people in attendance, Worthy Farm is a place like no other for you to join with Greenpeace to highlight the effective changes we can each make for a more inclusive, peaceful and fairer planet.
