Glastonbury: Supergrass have reformed to play Pilton Party tonight

Supergrass have confirmed they will be appearing at tonight’s Pilton Party. Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis hinted last week the unannounced ‘special guest’ would be: “a big, big band who are reforming just for this.”

He added: “They’ve got loads of hit records and they’re going to be absolutely great, I can’t wait to see them. I expect a lot of people will want to get a ticket on the gate after they’re announced. As always, it’s going to be a really super night – especially if the weather is kind to us.”

Supergrass had been rumoured to be the special guest in recent days and have now listed tonight’s Pilton Party as a tour date on their Spotify profile. They’ll be appearing alongside Wolf Alice, who Eavis has already revealed will be on the Glastonbury Festival line-up next June.

Gaz Coombes, Danny Goffey, Mick Quinn and Rob Coombes formed Supergrass in 1993. Their hit song ‘Alright‘ achieved international acclaim, before the band split in 2010 citing creative differences.

Pilton Party is an annual ‘thank you’ event organised by Glastonbury for local residents and workers. Artists appearing at Pilton Party typically feature on the line-up of the next Glastonbury Festival. Liam Gallagher headlined last year’s Pilton Party which raised thousands of pounds for a Pilton village fund.

Taking place since 1984, Pilton Party is held at Worthy Farm, one of the farms which makes up the full Glastonbury site in June. Having previously been inside a tent, an image posted to Twitter this week suggests Pilton Party 2019 will again be on an outdoor stage.

Pattern Pusher and Sam Richardson & the Renegades complete the Pilton Party 2019 line-up, with live music finishing around 11pm and a DJ until midnight. Free shuttle buses into Glastonbury and Shepton will be available after the show. Gates open at 5pm.

Pilton Party 2019 tickets are now available online for £30 from SeeTickets.
