“Wednesday is the new Monday!”, at least according to Kendal Calling organisers, who yesterday revealed the line-up announcement set for 6pm Monday live on Absolute Radio will now happen on Wednesday night instead.
The Lake District-based festival’s theme for this year is ‘Kendal Calling goes to the Arcade‘ with the new announcement said to be “levelling up … with even more artists”.
In another tweet, organisers said the announcement will feature: “Some very big bands. A lot of quite big bands. A lot of new bands. Some old friends coming back. Some new friends. A lot of DJs. A big comedian. Some people from this country. Some people not from this country. Not necessarily in that order.”
Originally, the headliners were set to be revealed live on Absolute Radio at 6pm Monday, with the full line-up shared online at 6:15pm, so we’re expecting a similar running order on Wednesday. Listen to Absolute Radio online here for Kendal Calling news from 6pm Wednesday 29th January.
As part of the retro arcade theme, Kendal Calling 2020 is said to feature “over 50 retro arcade games, an immersive games parade, legendary characters and crazy challengers”. Organisers encourage attendees to dress for a theme each year, with dinosaurs invading the site last year as part of ‘Kendal Calling goes Jurassic‘.
As part of an effort to go plastic-free, Kendal Calling gave away 10,000 reusable water bottles last year in partnership with United Utilities. A fans group on Facebook, ‘Kendal’s Calling You‘, often raises thousands of pounds for charity selling custom wristbands ahead of the festival.
Kendal Calling returns to it’s beautiful Lake District home at Lowther Deer Park from Thursday 30th July to Sunday 2nd August 2020. Tickets are currently on sale, with adult weekend camping tickets just £139 + fees.
