Four Shoe Zone stories in Manchester reported an average 889 per cent rise in sales of wellies in the fortnight leading up to Parklife, over the last three years.
Across their Longsight, Salford, Ashton and Manchester City Centre stores, welly sales spiked an average of 1527.5 per cent in 2016 and 1188.5 per cent in 2017.
However during last summer’s heatwave welly sales for the fortnight before Parklife dropped to 50 per cent below average, despite the upcoming festival.
The Salford store saw a 2900 per cent rise in welly sales before Parklife in 2016, as did the Longsight store in 2017.
The Manchester Tab reported headliner Cardi B pulled out of the festival this week to recover from a boob job. No replacement has been announced.
Naomi Shefford, Head of Digital at Shoe Zone said: “With Manchester well-known as one of the rainiest cities in the UK we were intrigued to see what happens with welly sales around Manchester during the festival season.
“Non-predictable weather here in the UK suggests that we all wait until the very last minute before purchasing wellies, with most of us leaving it to a few days before we are set to go!”
