Sankeys announces autumn/winter season at revamped Sidney Street venue

Sankey Street venue 1

Sankeys is returning to Manchester with a brand new permanent home on Sidney Street, marking the start of its Autumn/Winter season on Saturday 26th September. The opening party brings together regulars Low Steppa, Pirate Copy, and Mike Morrisey B2B Luca606 for a night that sets the tone for the club’s house-led programme running through to mid-December.

This is the first time Sankeys has had a permanent Manchester base since its celebrated Ancoats venue closed in 2017, and organisers say its absence has been felt ever since. The new Sidney Street space has been refined and revitalised to bring back the same stripped-back, music-first approach that made Sankeys legendary in the first place, keeping the club’s original ethos at the heart of its enhanced surroundings.

The revamped club operates as an intimate 500-capacity space, with new air conditioning added throughout for the first time. A brand new, clandestine Room 2 has also been carved out of the former green room, designed for clubbers to discover rather than seek out; an intimate room built for raw, close-up sets. Moving the artist dressing rooms upstairs has freed up further space on the club floor, while the new room gives Sankeys extra scope to programme across different sounds without pulling focus away from the main space.

The celebrated LED matrix installation returns alongside the no-VIP, no-phones dancefloor policy that has always set Sankeys apart from other clubs. Musically, the venue is returning to the house-led, underground energy that defined its legacy, deliberately avoiding the trend of headliner-chasing to keep the dancefloor experience as the absolute priority. Special guests and residents will be kept unannounced until each week, a move organisers say maintains focus on the shared experience and community spirit that has kept Sankeys at the forefront of the underground scene.

Alongside opening night’s Low Steppa, Pirate Copy and Mike Morrisey B2B Luca606, the autumn/winter bill features Arapu, George Smeddles, Paisley Jensen, Richy Ahmed, Darius Syrossian, Miguel Campbell, Jaden Thompson, Seb Zito B2B Rossko, Grant Nelson and Priku, with more special guests still to be announced between now and mid-December.
