Liam Gallagher gets potato peelers banned from Parklife 2018

After Liam Gallagher made this odd request prior to a gig in London last November, fans had been known to bring the utensils en-masse to his performances. Unfortunately this has left Parklife 2018, where he is due to headline, with little choice but to add ‘potato peelers’ to their prohibited items list.

The Parklife team confirmed to Manchester Evening News they had been inundated with emails asking if they could bring the utensils to the festival ever since his headline set was confirmed last week.  Event founder Sacha Lord-Marchionne said he was “blown away at how many people have asked to bring in potato peelers for Liam’s main stage performance.”

A similar incident occurred last summer when Reading & Leeds Festivals were forced to ban Pineapples after Glass Animals fans began bringing them to gigs, solely on the basis one track contains the line “pineapples are in my head.”

Potato peelers do have some potential to cause injury, and while Parklife are going to significant efforts to keep knives and bladed items out of their event, thousands of fans bringing potato peelers would likely not be well received.
