George Ezra is rumoured to appear on the Glastonbury line-up this summer, after last night teasing followers with the announcement of new music.
He said: “I can’t quite believe I’m saying this, in fact, I’m not exactly sure how to say this… I guess…NEW MUSIC. It’s true! My new single ‘Anyone For You’ will be out next Friday, January 28. This is just the beginning.”
It’s his first new material since the 2018 album Staying At Tamara’s – released ahead of his packed-out set on Glasto’s Pyramid Stage in June 2019. George played an hour-long set on the festival’s Friday night, ahead of Stormzy’s headline slot. He then featured in Glastonbury’s Live at Worthy Farm live stream event in May 2021.
Tinderbox Festival in Denmark takes place over the same weekend as Glastonbury 2022 and have already confirmed George Ezra’s place on their line-up – leaving two nights open for a potential slot at Worthy Farm. He’s also confirmed as a headliner for Boardmasters in Cornwall this August and will play his own headline show at London’s Finsbury Park on July 17th.
As it stands, only Billie Eilish and Diana Ross have been officially confirmed by Glastonbury organisers as part of the line-up.
However, a few other artists have self-confirmed their place, including Crowded House, Craig Charles, Papaphone and Black Dyke Band. The latter will open the Pyramid Stage on Sunday morning.
Billie Eilish will be the youngest ever Pyramid Stage headliner, at 20 years old when she performs on the Friday night. Diana Ross will take the Pyramid’s Sunday afternoon ‘Legends Slot’.
Harry Styles has also been rumoured to appear.
The full line-up is usually revealed towards the end of May, just a few weeks before the festival, although more artists are often confirmed from February.
Glastonbury 2022 will take place from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th June at Worthy Farm near Pilton, Somerset. Tickets sold out ahead of the cancelled 2020 festival, though a resale of cancelled tickets will take place before the event.
