After a long three years, Glastonbury is finally back this weekend. After an emotional day one yesterday, thousands more festivalgoers are expected to descend on the site today despite rail strikes and a thunderstorm warning.

10:10pm – Secret set over
Bastille’s not-so-secret set at William’s Green is now over. It saw them play a load of their classic tracks, reworked to feature brass band Old Dirty Brasstards. They’ll be playing their own set at William’s Green later this evening, right after Elvana.
8:20pm – Bastille moments away
Their secret set at William’s Green might have been one of history’s worst kept secrets, but with no sign of them 30 minutes after the expected start time some are starting to question if they were mistaken.
Fortunately for the gathered masses, they’ve just confirmed they’re on their way and apologised for being late!
7:10pm – William’s Green still packed
William’s Green, and the area surrounding it, is still almost completely full. Bastille are expected to perform a secret set within the next hour, but if you’re not already there you’re incredibly unlikely to get anywhere near it – so don’t head over now.
The ‘secret set’ should be over by 9:10pm latest when Elvana are scheduled to come on stage. We expect crowds to disperse in time for people to make their way into the area for Elvana and the rest of the evening’s line-up (although if you’re already there it’s well worth sticking around for Elvana – ie Elvis sings Nirvana, they’re brilliant!).
Earlier this evening, organisers asked anyone not already in the William’s Green area to avoid it for “a few hours” – which pretty much means until after the secret set.

3:00pm – Sun shining at the circus
The Theatre and Circus fields are thriving in the sunshine as the crowds enjoy the entertainment indoors and out.
1:05pm – Met Office weather update
We’re still hopeful that any showers or storms miss the festival completely. They should pass relatively quickly if they do hit Glasto – but if you can’t stick it out until you dry off, you’ll want to have a waterproof coat with you around the site today.
Met Office Chief Forecaster Paul Gundersen said: “Our advice would be to have raincoats at the ready for the rest of the festival. After a warm and, at times, sunny start to Thursday it will turn cloudier and there will be an increasing risk of thunderstorms through the afternoon and evening bringing a risk of torrential downpours.
“The exact location of the heaviest of these showers is still uncertain, but people can so stay up to date with the latest forecast and warnings through our website or app.”
12:10pm – Kidzfield now open
Glastonbury’s much-loved Kidzfield is now open! Along with completely free-to-ride fairground attractions, today’s line-up includes Basil Brush, Wind in the Willows, Flying Seagull Project and Andy and the Odd Socks.
12:01pm – Big cat ‘loose’ on site
A newspaper story claims a big cat is roaming within the festival.

Glastonbury organisers have shared some stunning images from Wednesday night on their Facebook page.
11:31am – Morning trains on time
Despite the biggest rail strikes in decades leading to a reduced service to Glastonbury and much of the country being cut off altogether, GWR scheduled eight special trains from London Paddington to Glasto’s Castle Cary station today. There are also three trains stopping at Glasto’ from Exeter St Davids via Taunton.
The final morning arrival turned up just one minute late at 10:53am with the next arrival from London due at 12:08pm. With the first train of the day from Exeter arriving just ten minutes later at 12:18pm, shuttle buses may become busy for a short while – though we wouldn’t expect any major issues.
11:05am – Not on the land!
Glastonbury have shared an image of one of the many “Don’t pee on the land!” signs spread around the site.
With over 200,000 ticketholders and crew in attendance, too much urine making it’s way into the local ecosystem can cause environmental harm to the local rivers.
In 2019, a study by Bangor University found harmful levels of recreational drugs in local watercourses after the festival.

8:44am – Happy birthday from Michael Eavis
Johnny’s lucky enough to be enjoying a Glasto’ birthday today and what’s more – he’s woken up to a card signed by festival founder Michael Eavis. Amazing, happy birthday Johnny!
8:15am – Quiet on the roads
It’s expected to get busier through the day, but we think the worst of the queues are now out of the way. With the rail strike on again today the roads could be busier than in previous years, though some limited services are still running to the festival.
8:00am – Travel problems for Wolf Alice
Wolf Alice are set to play the Pyramid Stage at 4:45pm tomorrow, but they’re currently stuck in LA after their flight was cancelled.

7:57am – First train from London quiet
Despite today’s rail strike a limited number of trains are heading to the festival from London Paddington. Alex shared this image just over an hour ago and says the first train to Glastonbury, which left at 7:44am, was only around 20% full. It’s due to arrive at Castle Cary station at around 9:36am, where shuttle buses will be waiting to take people the last few miles to the festival.
