Expanded Block 9 & radical new Arcadia show for next Glastonbury

In an interview with NME, Emily Eavis hinted at several changes being made to the site during it’s 2018 fallow year, in preparation for the 2019 festival.

Dance mecca ‘Block 9’ is set to be expanded, with Emily stating “we’re spreading out Block 9 a bit, giving them more space as they’ve got some pretty mind boggling ideas that we’re putting into action. ”

Performance art collective Arcadia are set to return with an all new show in the works, ” We’ve been chatting to Arcadia about doing something quite radical in that field – they’ve come up with some inspired plans. It’s best kept under wraps, but it’s certainly raising the bar!”

Emily also confirmed, unsurprisingly, that she would not permit Theresa May to give a speech at the festival. Of course, the chances of Theresa May having any desire to speak at Glastonbury are absolutely zero. When asked if Kayne West would ever be invited to return, Eavis said “Maybe, but it’s a little bit too soon to talk about it now.”

It was also confirmed something “pretty exciting” would be added next to The Park area in 2019. You can read Emily’s interview in full on the NME website.

Glastonbury Plastic Bottle Ban?

A Glastonbury spokesman confirmed the plans were in the works for a plastic bottle ban at the 2019 event.  He said “It’s a massive thing which everyone at the festival is working on.” Ms Eavis, daugter of Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis, told BBC Radio 6 Music the plastic water bottle ban was “the big project” for the next festival.
