It looks like tonight’s secret set on the BBC Introducing Stage will be Yungblud. He’s expected to hit the stage at 7:20pm this evening and should be on for about 45 minutes.
The slot listed as TBA has set rumours flying since the full line-up and set times were released weeks ago. Earlier this week, many thought it could be Arlo Parks as they curated the stage’s line-up for the day – but this pattern didn’t develop with the other curators and evening TBA slots through the weekend.
Yesterday, Yungblug sub-headlined the John Peel Stage with an hour-long set (which you can watch here on iPlayer) – and now, the Twitter account SecretGlasto, the undisputed authority on such matters, said a few minutes ago: “We are 90% certain that the 19:20 special guest slot at BBC Introducing tent is Yungblud.”
UPDATE: They’ve since posted the tweet below saying Yungblud is 100% confirmed.
Meanwhile, some people don’t want to drop their hunch that Green Day will show up at some point this weekend, with the band hyped as favourites for a secret set by the mainstream media for weeks ahead of the festival and their headline shows taking place in London on Friday and Saturday leaving a suspicious gap in their tour schedule today.
On Thursday, some people thought Green Day would appear at William’s Green for a secret set which turned out to be Bastille, despite it being one of the worst kept secrets in recent memory.
There are still a few unknown TBA and TBC slots for today on the constantly updated list of secret sets, but it’s looking less and less likely any of them are Green Day shaped. On Friday, Bristol Live reported that a leaked secret set schedule had Green Day down to appear on the BBC Introducing Stage – though it also claimed Harry Styles would join Billie Eilish during her headline Pyramid Stage set last night, which he did not.
This morning, George Ezra confirmed he’ll be playing a surprise set at Glastonbury this afternoon. He was on our secret sets list well ahead of the festival and widely expected to appear until Thursday, when a bout of laryngitis diagnosis forced him to cancel shows and left his a secret slot hanging by a thread.
Fortunately, he’s now recovered and was able to play his John Peel Stage set at 2pm this afternoon.
George wasn’t the only big name in line for a surprise appearance today. Jack White is now confirmed to play the Park Stage at 6pm today, which you’ll be able to watch live here on the BBC’s official Park Stage stream. Yesterday afternoon, we found out Lily Allen is making her way into Glastonbury, according to an Instagram story she shared this afternoon.
In posted videos of her family in the car with her, the acclaimed artist asks Marnie Rose, her daughter, Rose if she’s “ready for Glastonbury?” – then in a subsequent snap, shown above, she writes: “She thinks she’s embarrassed now… wait till I hit that stage later”.
Lily Allen appeared on stage with Olivia Rodrigo, when they dedicated a performance of her song ‘Fuck You’ to the US Supreme Court for overturning the Roe v Wade ruling on women’s rights. See the clip below.
On Thursday night, Bastille played a not-so-secret set to a packed William’s Green tent – with stewards having the close the area hours before as crowds descended and filled it to capacity. The band appeared with Old Dirty Brasstards and played a set of their classics reworked with the brass band.
