Sziget Festival has announced it will return to Óbuda Island in Budapest from August 11–15, 2026, in a new chapter that sees the return of its founder, Károly Gerendai, to the leadership team. Pre-registration for tickets is now open, ahead of an exclusive 48-hour pre-sale for Full Festival Passes which begins at noon on Friday, November 7th.
The festival is set to build on more than three decades of heritage as it enters a new phase. Following collaborative discussions, Sziget and Superstruct have aligned on a new direction, with the event moving forward under its founder and long-standing team. The festival’s place in the city has been further solidified with a new multi-year land agreement with the Budapest Municipality.
For 2026, Sziget will take place over five festival days, from Tuesday, August 11 to Saturday, August 15, with an additional move-in day available. This streamlined format aims to concentrate all of Sziget’s music, arts, and community experiences into one cohesive festival week.
An exclusive 48-hour pre-sale for Full Festival Passes for Sziget 2026 starts on Friday, November 7th at noon, with prices held at the same level as the previous year’s edition. Fans wanting to access the pre-sale must pre-register via the Sziget website before registration closes at noon on Wednesday, November 5th.
CEO Tamás Kádár confirmed the festival’s ambitions, stating, “For 2026, we’re working toward the same goal as always: to continue developing Sziget as one of Europe’s leading festivals with the strong lineup and international allure that has made it a unique event for decades.” He also acknowledged the role of Superstruct, adding, “Superstruct’s period of operational involvement in the festival allowed us to navigate the pandemic and to invest in the quality of the festival experience for visitors from across Europe – we are grateful for all their support.”
Returning founder Károly Gerendai said the 2025 event provided a strong foundation for the future. “This year’s Sziget already showed very positive developments, giving us a strong foundation to build on,” he commented. “Our focus now is to emphasize Sziget’s unique identity and values even more. Not only through the headline acts, but also by deepening the festival’s cultural significance and its connection to Budapest.”
The announcement follows a successful 2025 edition, which saw significant investment in The Island of Freedom and welcomed the festival’s 11 millionth visitor. To capture the spirit of the event, an official aftermovie from last year’s edition has also been released.
