Organisers of Scotland’s biggest music festival are exploring options to alter stage times for next summer’s event. They aim to ensure fans don’t miss the national team’s World Cup campaign.

The opening day of TRNSMT 2026, scheduled for Friday 19th June, coincides directly with Scotland’s crucial group stage match against Morocco.

The match is set to kick off at 23:00 on the Friday night. This creates a potential conflict with the festival’s traditional timings. Headliners usually finish their sets between 21:30 and 23:00. Without changes, thousands of fans would be leaving Glasgow Green just as the game begins.

Festival Director Geoff Ellis has confirmed that officials are looking at solutions to keep the crowd on-site.

“As you would expect there is flexibility in timings,” said Mr Ellis. “We will be ensuring that music fans can enjoy the TRNSMT line up as well as watching Scotland’s second game.”

One option under serious consideration is showing the match on the main stage screens immediately after the live music concludes.

This move would effectively extend the event’s operation into the early hours of Saturday morning. It could turn the festival site into a massive fan zone for the Tartan Army.

The scheduling conflict arose after TRNSMT confirmed new, earlier dates for the 2026 event. The festival moved to mid-June to “kick off the summer season,” inadvertently placing the opening night on the same date as the fixture.

Friday’s musical lineup is headlined by former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft. The bill also features Wolf Alice, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, and The Beta Band.

Tickets for the festival have been on sale since November, with the full line-up and ticket information already drawing significant interest.

Organisers have also introduced a new ‘VIP Priority’ ticket tier for 2026. This pass guarantees access to the front standing area of the Main Stage, addressing a common request from fans.

  • General Admission Day Ticket: £79.50 (+ fees)
  • General Admission 3-Day Ticket: £229.50 (+ fees)
  • VIP Day Ticket: £155.00 (+ fees)
  • VIP Priority Day Ticket: £249.50 (+ fees)

The lineup continues to grow with new acts. Viral sensation Skye Newman was recently added to the star-studded TRNSMT 2026 line-up for the Sunday session.

While the exact logistics for the World Cup screening are not yet final, the willingness to adapt suggests fans won’t have to choose between music and football next June.
