Nigerian singer and producer Tems is reshaping the Nigerian music landscape, one note at a time. Her distinctive sound, a blend of elements of alternative R&B and neo-soul, has garnered her fans across the globe and over 19 million listeners on Spotify. Tems’ deep connection to music goes beyond mere words; it’s driven by a genuine passion rooted in her personal journey, environment, and a wealth of past experiences and future goals. Her creative process involves delving into her inner self to produce audio-visual expressions through songwriting. This approach led to the groundbreaking success of her debut track, ‘Mr Rebel’. Tems’ focus remains on exploring and promoting the movement that is shaping the alternative music scene in Nigeria, aiming to advance both the culture and the conversation. She’s making waves in the UK too, and her debut album, Born in the Wild, was released just last month and has been cited by NME as “soulful, spiritual… This stunning debut exemplifies West Africa’s rich musical diversity via Tems’ fluid approach to genre” in their 5 star review.
Taylah Elaine is a London-based DJ. Her genuine love for music, smooth transitions and ability to curate an eclectic mix of different genres along with her unique sense of style have led to her making a name for herself in the UK and internationally. Plus Girls Can’t DJ will be heating up the stage for Tems and Taylah Elaine, bringing the best tunes and raw energy to match the crowd. Founded in 2015 by London based DJ Jordss, GCDJ’s purpose is to tackle the gender imbalance within the DJ industry and showcases worldwide womxn & non-binary talent. Expect huge tunes featuring amapiano, kwaito, soulful house, afro house and much more.
This year’s Amex Afters with Tems follows the huge success of last summer’s after show concert with Little Simz at Village Underground.
