Boomtown has been granted permission to open its doors from Wednesday this summer.  The South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) have given the rapidly growing festival the go-ahead to extend to a five-day event,  in the hope that spreading arrivals over an extra day will alleviate traffic congestion.

However, to access the festival on Wednesday you must travel via a sustainable method of transport. That means three or more per car, coach, or a shuttle bus from the train station.

Boomtown is one of over 60 independent festivals that recently pledged to totally eliminate single-use plastics by 2021, which means banning non-biodegradable glitter and plastic straws. Limiting Wednesday arrivals to those using sustainable transport furthers Boomtown’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.

Boomtown Chapter 9

Boomtown organisers told press: “After six months of working hard on all possible outcomes of the licensing and planning results this is absolutely amazing news! Being granted permission means that we can now implement measures to help spread arrivals out over two days and continue our work to reduce the disruption caused to the local community and make entry to the festival easier for everyone.”

Does Boomtown have this year’s best line-up?
We think so…

Wednesday entry passes are currently available for £40 if arriving by carshare or coach. For those arriving by train, a £50 Wednesday entry pass includes a return shuttle bus from Winchester station. Further information is available on Boomtown’s official website.

Although standard festival tickets to Boomtown sold out in February, there is still the opportunity for those who want to be a part of the 10th Chapter celebrations via Boomtown’s very own version of a  VIP / Hospitality package the ‘theatrical camping experience’ of Boomtown Springs!

Boomtown Springs’ new interactive area is curated by the award-winning collective Bearded Kitten and offers the chance for people enter into a whole new realm of summer soirees, mansion and pool parties, fine food, access secret bars across the city and posh showering facilities as well as little perks including phone charging and a dedicated entrance lane. Additionally, Wednesday arrival is included in the price of all Boomtown Springs tickets.

To combat fraud, Boomtown Chapter 10 tickets are strictly non-transferable, and unofficial resales should be avoided. Countless disappointed fans with invalid tickets are turned away at the gates each year. However, Boomtown are running an official Glasto-style ticket resale next month, so you could still be in with a chance of a ticket.

Alternatively, why not go to Boomtown for free? The festival offers a wide range of volunteering options, each with plenty of time to enjoy the festival.

Boomtown’s tenth chapter is shaping up to be an almighty celebration of the festival’s journey over the past decade from where it’s been to how it’s evolved into the internationally renowned festival it is today; including 2018 UK festival exclusive with the superstars Gorillaz, American punk rap Limp Bizkit and the welcome return reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, plus 500 more artists from all across the globe.

On top of the impressive line up, the commitment to reduce traffic and improve the queuing experience for those in attendance, Boomtown have also implemented a series of additional changes internally for this seminal year; including the introduction of four new immersive districts spanning the industrial age, to the 1980s and onwards with a glimpse into Boomtown’s post apocalyptic future!  There have been huge upgrades to the existing intricate set designs, throughout the existing districts as well as the much anticipated unveiling of a new Lion’s Den stage.
