Limp Bizkit and sombr lead Electric Castle 2027 first wave

LimpBizkit EC 7

Limp Bizkit, sombr, Noisia, 5 Seconds of Summer and Joey Valence & Brae are the first artists confirmed for Electric Castle 2027. The festival’s 13th edition runs from 15 to 18 July 2027 at Bánffy Castle in Bonţida, near Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

The first wave sits across very different corners of the bill. Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit return to the main stage, sombr is named as another headliner, 5 Seconds of Summer play Romania for the first time, Noisia reunite as a trio, and Joey Valence & Brae come back to the Hangar stage. More names are due soon.

For the next few days, a General Pass is priced at €159 plus fees, reduced from €320 plus fees. A camping pass is €69 plus fees, down from €99 plus fees. Both are available at www.electriccastle.ro.

Electric Castle is billed as four days and 24-hour programming, with hundreds of experiences on the historic grounds. Organisers call it one of the few places in Europe where the party never stops, set against a 16th-century castle. The festival was named Best International Festival at the UK Festival Awards 2025. It has also been nominated for Best Major Festival at the European Festival Awards for the seventh time, and was a UK Festival Awards finalist for the second time.

Limp Bizkit are returning after playing the festival in 2019, with organisers promising mosh pits in front of the main stage. The release points to the band’s role in taking nu metal mainstream, and to their anti-censorship, anti-establishment attitude finding a new audience. Their latest album, Still Sucks, is cited as proof they have not lost the appetite for bringing crowds together, from fans who grew up with “Break Stuff” to younger listeners finding an outlet in the songs. Limp Bizkit were also on the Download bill in 2026, alongside Guns N’ Roses and Linkin Park, when Download 2027 became the festival’s fastest-selling edition.

sombr (Shane Boose) is the other named headliner, and he is only 21. The release traces his path from a singer-songwriter finding viral success on TikTok to a Grammy-nominated alt-pop artist with a sold-out tour. Singles “Back to Friends” and “Undressed” pushed him into the spotlight. His 2025 debut album, I Barely Know Her, brought awards and nominations, praise from Taylor Swift, and 17 million streams on its first day. Tens of thousands of fans are expected for his main stage show. He has already been booked elsewhere for summer 2027, including Rock Werchter on Sunday 4 July.

Joey Valence & Brae return after appearing on the Electric Castle 2025 line-up. They are back at the Hangar with tracks from their 2026 release HYPERYOUTH (afterparty). The duo’s line on a good show is quoted directly: “A great gig is one where you dance, sweat and make at least one new friend.” The announcement also nods to “PUNK TACTICS” and a set that moves between hip-hop, hardcore and EDM without staying in one lane.

5 Seconds of Summer play their first show in Romania at what the release calls one of the most creatively exciting stages of their career. First known internationally as an opening act for One Direction, the Australian band have since built a career of more than a decade, including the global hit “Youngblood” and three consecutive Billboard 200 No. 1 albums. Organisers say they have moved past the early boy-band label into a more rock-driven sound, with dance and electronic influences, and an explosive live show.

Noisia are the electronic headline of this first wave. The Dutch group reunite as a trio after seven years apart. The announcement describes them as one of the most innovative and influential acts in modern bass music, returning to restate that reputation at the castle.

The line-up so far is Limp Bizkit, sombr, Noisia, 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) and Joey Valence & Brae. Electric Castle takes place at Bánffy Castle, Bonţida, near Cluj-Napoca, from 15 to 18 July 2027. Passes are on sale at electriccastle.ro.
