Manchester clubs Hidden, and the legendary, now-defunct Sankeys, have confirmed festival appearances for the upcoming summer.
Parklife Festival, taking place at Manchester’s Heaton Park, will be rebuilding Sankeys Soap, including it’s original sound system and residents! This could be your last chance to see the clubbing institution that helped shape the scene as it is today.
However, if you’ve already got your a sold-out Parklife ticket, there’s a catch, as the rebuilt Sankeys Soap main room will be inside Parklife’s ‘VIP Colonnade‘ area, a £40 upgrade on a standard weekend ticket which said to include secret stages, special bars, and luxury loos. Standard tickets, alongside VIP tickets and upgrades for existing ticket holders, are available on the official Parklife website here.
Gottwood, taking place in an incredible woodland location on the Welsh island of Anglesey, have confirmed Hidden will take over a stage at the festival this summer. Details remain scant, though Move D, Axel Boman, Man Power – Me Me Me, Martin Loose-Cuts, and Anton Fitz have all been confirmed to feature on Hidden’s stage over the weekend.
Parklife and Gottwood take place over the same weekend in early June, so die-hard fans of Mancunian club nights will have to take their pick between the two.
Parklife is the more mainstream of the two events, set to feature Liam Gallagher, Skepta, The XX, and Lorde across the weekend of 9th-10th June 2018. Gottwood, with it’s more traditional, rural location, opens its campsite on Thursday 7th June, whilst city-based Parklife does not offer revellers camping accommodation.
Sankeys resident Kyrsko, set to feature at Parklife, had this to say:
“Some people don’t really understand the importance of truly great clubs (that have been and gone) and their contribution to culture and the cities in which they exist, they are melting pots of young eager people, many of whom forge relationships in these places that last a lifetime. Speaking on purely a selfish basis, to have the old room re-created and with the original sound-system, getting together the old residents from my time and the Bugged Out days, even just for a day, will make an old man and many of my friends very happy… and scared, scared that we’ll all be acting as if we’re in our 20’s again. Either way, I can’t fucking wait.”
