Former Tory culture minister and I’m a Celebrity contestant Nadine Dorries was trying to buy a Glastonbury 2023 ticket in the first ticket sale, which sold out after just 22 minutes.
The only tickets on sale tonight were packaged with coach travel, so if you were successful in getting tickets, there’s a chance you could be spending a few hours sat next to the MP for Mid Bedfordshire while on your way to Glasto next June.
Nadine posted a photo of the infamous holding page at 6:21pm, just a minute before tonights tickets sold out, so it’s probably more likely she’ll be trying again when general admission tickets go on sale at 9am Sunday morning.
Many were quick to respond with light-hearted and more serious remarks about the hardcore Boris and Brexit supporter trying to get into a “lefty” festival – while others just hoped they wouldn’t bump into her. Many of her politically-aligned followers questioned why she would want to go, describing the festival as “awful” and “woke”.

While Jeremy Corbyn filled the Pyramid Stage area to capacity when he spoke at the festival in 2017, Nadine Dorries might not get quite the same reception. At Glastonbury 2022, spontaneous chants of ‘Fuck the Tories‘ broke out throughout the festival, including the massive singalong as Jamie Webster’s gig, shown below.
Coach package tickets for Glastonbury 2023 went on sale at 6pm tonight and completely sold out in just 22 minutes, with the sought-after Wednesday departures selling out even quicker.
A notice appeared stating all tickets for coaches departing on the Wednesday had sold out at 6:19pm, with all Thursday departure tickets selling out shortly after at 6:22pm.
Though the tickets always go quickly, tonight’s tickets sold out around 20% faster than in previous years.
The last time a main Glastonbury ticket sale took place was in October 2019, when Wednesday departures sold out in 23 minutes and Thursday departures sold out in 27 minutes. This was pretty much the same as the year before when Wednesday departures sold out after 22 minutes and Thursday departures after 29 minutes. And for Glastonbury 2017, all coach tickets sold out in just 23 minutes.
All tickets sold tonight were bundled with coach travel from locations across the UK. Anyone who bought a ticket tonight will have to travel on the booked coach to collect their festival ticket and won’t be able to access Glastonbury via any other transport.
This year, ticket prices have increased to £340, made up of a £335 face value and a £5 booking fee on each ticket.
Organiser Emily Eavis explained: “We have tried very hard to minimise the increase in price on the ticket but we’re facing enormous rises in the costs of running this vast show, whilst still recovering from the huge financial impact of two years without a festival because of Covid.”
The main ticket sale for general admission tickets will be at 9am this Sunday (3rd November). And as for who might be playing, the full Glastonbury line-up isn’t usually confirmed until the end of May, but loads of artists, including the headliners, are typically revealed earlier. Plus, some artists will ‘self-confirm’ their place and many others will be rumoured – and some of the strongest rumours always prove to be true. Last time around, the main line-up poster was released at the start of March.

Pulp are now strongly rumoured to appear on the Glastonbury 2023 line-up after announcing details of a reunion tour next summer – which includes space for a potential Glasto slot. The band were already deemed a likely contender by bookmakers, who in September were offering odds of 9/1 on Pulp headlining the iconic Pyramid Stage.
In other Glastonbury news, Victoria Beckham has ruled out a Worthy Farm appearance as part of a Spice Girls reunion in a US TV interview – following years of speculation fuelled by her former band mates.
She told Watch What Happens Live: “I had so much fun being in the Spice Girls – but now, with everything else that I have got going on with my fashion and my beauty line, four children, I couldn’t commit to that. love the girls. I really, really enjoy singing Spice Girls when I’m doing karaoke, but I think I’d better leave it there.”
Guns N Roses are also rumoured, with bookmakers ranking the band as one of the favourites to headline the iconic Pyramid Stage next summer.
In an interview with Metal Hammer last year, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis was asked : “Who’s the heaviest band you would book for the Festival?”
She replied: “We had Napalm Death in 2017, and it doesn’t get much heavier than that! But I think Guns N’ Roses need to play here at some point don’t they?”
The American rapper has never played at the festival before, but a ‘festival insider’ claimed the organisers think the deal for June 2023 will be successful.
They told The Sun: “Eminem is wanted for a huge slot at Glastonbury and has been in talks for yonks. His dates all line-up and if they can get him on board, it will be the first time he has ever played at the festival. Eminem is one of the greatest rappers on the planet and to have him down on the farm would be incredible.”
While reports suggest he would be headlining the Pyramid Stage, and this would certainly be the most fitting slot if Eminem did appear at Glastonbury, organiser Emily Eavis said previously that all headliners for 2023 had already been booked. For The Sun’s sources to be correct, he would have to be played a “huge slot” elsewhere at the festival – unless of course, a previously booked headliner has dropped out.
Despite the Sun’s insider claiming Eminem’s tour dates line up with a potential Glastonbury appearance, the rapper has not currently announced any upcoming gigs, suggesting the source either has access to unreleased information or is mistaken.
Arctic Monkeys were also rumoured to have signed a deal to headline Glastonbury 2023 when their UK tour sold out in minutes earlier this month. A source told The Sun: “‘Alex Turner and the band are coming back to Glastonbury, and this time their set is going to be even bigger and better.
“The lads have signed on the dotted line and will return to the Pyramid Stage next June. It is really special for them to be doing a hat-trick on that stage and it is something they have wanted to do for a while.”
