Roskilde Festival has named the first 18 acts for 2027, with Tame Impala set for the Orange Stage. Tickets are now on sale for the Danish non-profit festival, which runs from 26 June to 3 July 2027 just outside Copenhagen.
Caroline Polachek, Kacey Musgraves, Ezra Collective, Suki Waterhouse, Lambrini Girls, Patti Smith Quartet and Underscores are also in the opening wave. Almost 200 acts will eventually make up the music programme at the 55th edition, Northern Europe’s largest festival, which expects 130,000 participants, including 27,000 volunteers.
Tame Impala’s Orange Stage show is billed as one of only a few European festival appearances in 2027. The Australian project, led by Kevin Parker, is due on Friday 2 July. Organisers describe the set as a sun-drenched, otherworldly trip, moving between psychedelic soundscapes, alternative rock, euphoric pop and elements of rave culture. The band are also among the first headliners named for Open’er Festival 2027, which runs from 30 June to 3 July in Gdynia.
Thomas Sønderby Jepsen, Head of Music at Roskilde Festival, said the first announcement outlines a programme of 18 acts covering “vastly different sounds and tendencies”.
“Roskilde Festival is a vibrant mix of sounds and expressions that both reflects the time we live in and offers a glimpse of what lies ahead,” he said. “There is pop, hyperpop, rock, metal, punk, hip-hop and jazz, and both compelling new voices and major names such as Tame Impala, who are playing only a handful of European festivals this summer.”
The festival runs from 26 June to 3 July 2027. A full week ticket costs €355 including fees. A one day ticket is €205 including fees. A two day ticket, covering any two of the final four festival days, is €300 including fees. Sales are through ticketing partner Tickster. More information is at roskilde-festival.dk/en.
The site has a station on the festival grounds, with a direct train from central Copenhagen taking less than 30 minutes. Roskilde is organised by the Roskilde Festival Charity Society. All profits go to humanitarian, non-profit and cultural work, especially for children and young people. Over the years the festival has generated about DKK 476 million (€63.7 million) for charitable distribution.
Jepsen also pointed to artists using the platform around their music. Caroline Polachek will bring what the festival calls an experimental pop universe, and has spoken on gender and representation in the industry. Patti Smith performs with Patti Smith Quartet, carrying more than 50 years of rock history, poetry and activism. She is also booked to headline Open’er in 2027. Kacey Musgraves is highlighted for challenging country and americana conventions, and for advocating for LGBTQ+ rights.
“Patti Smith has always been a powerful artistic and activist voice, while Caroline Polachek and Kacey Musgraves are striking examples of artists carrying that tradition forward by actively using their music and the attention surrounding it to make a difference,” Jepsen said. “As an independent, non-profit festival, supporting and highlighting voices like these is important to us, particularly at a time when artistic freedom unfortunately cannot be taken for granted.”
Ezra Collective, the Mercury Prize winning London group, blend jazz, soul, afrobeat and Cuban rhythms. New York band Nu Jazz fuse jazz with drum’n’bass, noise and electronic music. Electronic duo G Jones B2B Eprom are also confirmed. Norwegian hip-hop duo Karpe will play as part of their final ever tour.
Hyperpop artist Underscores is described by the festival as one of the genre’s most distinctive DIY names, combining electronic and computer generated sounds with what she has called “the sound of the future”. Metal and punk names in the first wave include Neurosis, Danish band Konvent, Drain and Brighton duo Lambrini Girls, who lead the first wave for Dot To Dot 2026.
