It will run through the course of the festival and is set to transform the audiences’ experience at what is already the world’s largest interactive and immersive theatrical performance.
Over 200 artists from the Boomtown Fair: Chapter 12 line-up will then be revealed, packed with artists and genres from all main stages from international stars right through to grass roots, fresh talent.
Boomtown co-founder Lak Mitchell previously said: “Over the years we’ve been working towards a festival that was truly an interactive experience. One that celebrated the whole musical spectrum but also led the way in creative thinking. This evolution will culminate this year with a multi-stage theatrical spectacle, fused with all the other performance elements, on a scale we’ve never done before!”
In December, organisers revealed Kano as the first major headliner for next summer’s festival. The MOBO-winning artist will close the Lion’s Den stage on Sunday night. Other artists already confirmed for Boomtown 2020 include Noisia, Flogging Molly and Caravan Palace.
In the official Boomtown email newsletter last November, organisers said: “We have 8 main music programmers in the team, all who specialise in different styles. Every year they have an increasingly difficult job to programme for Boomtown, due to many artist fees going through the roof and issues like Brexit screwing the system.
“However, the planned line-up is looking absolutely ridiculous, across all stages and districts. It’s Boomtown through and through and we’re certain every single one of you will love it.”
As part of an environmental campaign launched last year, Boomtown have now helped TreeSisters plant over 71,725 trees in forests around the world. This time around, organisers are hoping to bring that total to 1 million, with a huge campaign planned and ticket buyers offered the option to add a small donation to their purchase, equivalent to around five trees planted.
Boomtown Fair Chapter 12: New Beginnings will take place from Wednesday 12th to Sunday 16th August 2020 at the Matterley Estate near Winchester.
